Summary
An abandoned lighthouse. A haunted psychic.
The secrets of Shine House beckon from the shadows.
Emmie's spring break just started. Her idyllic getaway by the ocean is everything she dreamed of. Solitude. Friends. Sunshine. A chance to get away from her psychic past. But things take a chilling turn when she’s confronted by the ghost of a murdered girl.
As the restless spirit haunts her every step, Emmie soon realizes that delving into the past is attracting unwelcome attention. A mysterious presence stalks her, their intentions sinister and unknown. The darkness within Shine House is suffocating, and Emmie is holding the last candle for the family that was brutally slain there.
As Emmie becomes a target, she joins forces with a young police officer, igniting an investigation that draws them both closer to the truth and a fight for their lives.
Shine House, Book 0 is the prequel novella to the Emmie Rose Haunted Mystery series that delivers a murder mystery, supernatural suspense, and plenty of thrills.
Fans of Wendy Wang, Darcy Coates, J.R. Erickson, Cheryl Bradshaw, or Heather Graham will love this exciting ghost mystery series.

Yet another banger from Dean Rasmussen
I've loved all of Dean's Emmie Rose books so far! Seeing that this one was written after Hyde, Caine House & co. I was a bit worried as I'm always (don't ask me why because I don't know!) wary of going backwards with a character in case it doesn't mesh well with the version we've met later in their lives. This wasn't the case here. Emmie is just the same as she was in the other books and we even get a little more insight into her love of Caipiriñhas. ;) If you know, then you know. That to one side though, the story was great and - I have to admit - although I'd had an inkling of what might've happened from the get go, it still managed to keep me guessing right up until the end by which time I doubted my initial 'guesses' which made it even better! If you enjoy the Emmie Rose series but fancy a change from Sarah and Finn, this book is perfect because yet again you instantly care about the characters - I might even venture to say you care about them more... For some reason these ones were more empathetic (ironic, I know) than Sarah and Finn. I often find Sarah too fluffy and just a tiny bit irritatingly naïve at times so the change in characters actually worked really well. Definitely recommend!

Distinctly average
The plot was completely transparent, from the get go. There is so much potential with the main character, which hasn’t been expanded upon, despite reading a few of these books. This was the most disappointing, money I wish I had spent elsewhere.
I think the performance was given a Stirling effort.
