About this listen

I’ve known every kind of pain. Of the heart. Of the body. Of the soul. All I want now is the freedom that comes from making my art.

The last thing I expected was Hollywood royalty to waltz into my gallery in a small town in the middle of nowhere and see me. A man like Boden Cavanaugh shouldn’t understand me. Shouldn’t be able to soothe my most ragged edges. Even worse, he makes me want the one thing I can’t have. Him. All it takes is one spark, and friendship catches flame. But as our attraction burns bright, there are forces desperate to send us back into the darkness. And they’ve already killed before….

Loved the book, loved the audio ❤️

A fantastic adaptation from the Narrators,

Ok so Catherine finished me off with the Prologue. I wouldn’t mind but I’d already read it in the sneak peek at the end of Hidden Waters, so I knew what was coming……and I still friggin read it again 🤷🏼‍♀️ stupid stupid!

I absolutely loved this book, it’s such an emotional rollercoaster throughout for both Laiken and Boden.

Their journey is not easy, far from it, both trying to get over losses, some more recent than others but both with vast amounts of pain.

However, getting over it is not what on the agenda, when people linked to events start getting hurt, things take a turn for the worst.

This was one of Catherine’s best books for me, and I’ve loved all that came before, I did not see the twist coming in this one, I thought I had it all worked out, but was so wrong. So damn good!

Bring on Fractured Sky……I’ve been waiting for Shiloh’s FOREVER!!!!!

Amazing Narration

Another fantastic performance from Ava Erickson and Sebastian York. As with the other books in the Tattered and Torn series the narration of Shattered Sea has been top notch and I honestly can’t find a single thing about it that I didn’t love. Sebastian and Ava more than do justice to beautiful, slow burn romance from Catherine Cowles.

Laiken’s story in Shattered Sea will break your heart with the prologue when her life is left devastated. The years pass and, on the surface it appears that she is getting on with her life but its obvious that she’s merely existing until movie star Boden Cavanagh comes to Wolf Gap ostensibly to research his latest film but also to try and get over a tragic loss of his own.

This story is so beautifully written as two people who have both gone through tragic losses find one another, first as friends before their relationship slowly deepening into love. Boden and Lake are perfect together. While initially she is reluctant to rely on anyone, Boden is more than happy to take things at her pace and just be there with her. With the previous books in this series, Catherine Cowles has proven she’s an amazing romance author but with Shattered Sea she’s also shown she can write suspense with the best of them. I know there has been an element of thriller in the previous books but its always been clear who the bad guy was and it was more a case of proving it but here it’s a classic whodunnit. I would’ve liked a little more build up in the tension but I was still totally shocked when the villain was exposed and I doubt anyone even considered this person as a suspect.

Amazing story

Wow what an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. From the first few pages I knew my heart was gonna hurt so much with this story. The pain and devastation were apparent from that first chapter. The characters were diverse and extremely lovable. The story was gripping in its intensity and had me hooked from the beginning. I was willing the protagonist to reveal themselves and I must say I toyed with the idea of who it might be but I dismissed them almost immediately lol.
Once again Ms Cowles you’ve written a deep and beautiful love story where no one will be unmoved by the events unfolding in this story. I know I need the next book soon I cannot wait. The narration was spot on and just enhances the experience of this wonderful tale.

I loved it!

I absolutely love Boden and Laiken! Their love story is the perfect blend of angst, heat, and heart. The fantastic storyline had me on the edge of my seat with not only the suspense, but the thrilling twists and turns! However, it felt like there was a last minute change when it came to the villain; it really didn’t ring true for me. I still loved it though and highly recommend this wonderful series!

Fantastic, emotional listen!

Well there goes my heart! This series is just so emotional, and so romantic that each time I listen to one, I am completely invested in the outcome. Catherine Cowles knows how to capture my attention, and this one had me from the prologue. Laiken had her whole life planned out, only to have everything change in one night. Now ten years later, she is in Wolf Gap, working in the local art gallery and doing the best she can. Boden has come to town to do research for his latest movie role. But it is serving as a chance for him to work through some of his own demons. When he meets Laiken, there is a definite spark. And our story begins. These two have some things in common that pull them together, and it's wonderful to see the budding friendship slowly change into something more. Laiken has a good head on her shoulders, and I love her strength. Boden is very down to earth, and his protectiveness over Laiken is so endearing. Cowles throws in some suspense which had me on edge and trying to figure out where the twists and turns were taking me. This is a fabulous book, and great addition to the series.

And we cannot go wrong with a narration team like Ava Erickson and Sebastian York. These two work so well together, their voices complimenting each other. Tuning into their characters, the personalities for both are spot on and the performance one you should not miss!

What an amazing, emotional story!

What an amazing, emotional story! The suspense builds slowly as does the romance in this swoony slow burn.

Jase died 17 years ago but it seems like no one wants to move on. His family each in their own way is still holding Laiken Montgomery back from moving on with her life… that is until Boden Cavanaugh arrives in Wolf Gap.

“I was barely holding it together, and then suddenly realize that I didn’t need to. Not now, not with Boden… I came apart with the man who saw every fractured piece of me and wanted me anyway.”

By the end of the book I was totally in love with Boden and Laiken and didn’t want the story to end!!
I listened to most of this story on audiobook and loved the narration. It really gave me more of an ‘immersed in the book’ feel!

Amazing Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Emotional!

I am loving “The Tattered & Torn” series, and it is great to be back in “Wolf Gap” and with the amazing characters o Catherine Cowles created as well as the world she built, it is definitely something special and far from your typical small town romance. Each book in the series features different lead characters and stands on its own, but the characters are interconnected and I think it is best to read or listen to them in order. Not only are they all amazing books, but it is beneficial to know the back stories of some characters and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. That said, if you opt to read this on its own, it includes everything you need to know in the descriptive details and you will never feel lost or if you missed something. This book is Laiken Montgomery and Boden Cavanaugh’s story and after meeting Laiken in Addie’s story “Hidden Waters”, I wanted to know more about her and I knew her story was going to be a hard one and one with many layers. Laiken runs the art gallery in town, everyone in Wolf Gap knows her tragic past and how much she has lost, some may even blame her for it. Laiken has lived with that loss for the past ten years and her pain is a constant reminder of it. Boden Cavanaugh knows what it is like to lose someone you love, he also knows what it is like to be betrayed by those who are supposed to love you. Boden is an actor and is constantly in the public eye, so he is happy to go off the beaten path to do some research for a film he is working on, a horse ranch in Wolf Gap. A walk in to town and an eye-catching piece at the Art Gallery has him going in, the woman in the photo drew him in and so did the woman herself. He feels a connection with her, but Laiken is closed off and has a fortress around her. But when he sees her again, they come to an understanding, and it is the start of a special friendship. Boden is loving the peace he feels at Wolf Gap, but not all is right there, old friends of Laiken are dying and not only is her past coming back to haunt her, so is Boden’s. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully plotted romantic suspense, there is a perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Catherine Cowles, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧 📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Ava Erickson and Sebastian York are super stars and they are exceptional at what they do, bringing the characters to life, humanizing them with their own voice and personality. I love how they take each role, run with it and make it their own, sounding believable and just as I picture the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story and capture all the character’s emotions and project them into their performance and have you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen

Laiken story

🎧 AUDIO REVIEW 🎧

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I wasn’t expecting this story as thought be just the sibling so when it wasn’t the next sibling I was like who this book about.

Obviously met Laiken in Addie book, she had a lot to overcome that you don’t realised and the twist in this book I never clicked on. Was totally annoyed at myself.

Loved the twist though and how quickly they became a couple. It was straight to romance and overcoming their pasts.
Great story.
