Summary
It was supposed to be a fresh start. A small town where I could hide my little girl from the shadows that haunt us. A place where I could keep us safe.
The last thing I expected was him. A surly, broody mountain of a man who helps me save an injured deer in a snowstorm. Now, Roan Hartley keeps showing up with his glowers and grimaces. But they only make his rare smiles and the gentle way he talks to my daughter mean that much more. When forces from my past find us, Roan is determined to keep us safe—even if that means sleeping on my ancient couch every night.
As days turn to weeks, his touch has my walls crashing down. But someone out there doesn’t want me to find happiness. He doesn’t want me left breathing at all....

Wonderful story, brilliantly narrated
Loved this story. Although really, it was more than one story. There’s a woman trying to escape an awful situation, a haunted hero, a sweet little girl, some animal rescues, oh and a murderer on the loose. Can’t wait to get my hands on more from this author!

A beautiful romance brought to life
With each new release Catherine Cowles comes up with a hero I know will steal my heart and in Shadows of You Roan was no different. I already had a soft spot for the dark and brooding game warden with an aura of loneliness from his appearances in the previous books but seeing him with his tiny dancer turned me into a puddle of mush. He was so caring and gentle with her, protecting her against the mean girls, even though they were only children. The heroine Aspen was perfect for him, her sunshine to his grumpiness and she pulled him into her light. But Aspen had a past, one that had her living in fear of discovery and when that past caught up with her, there wasn’t nothing Roan wouldn’t do to protect his newfound family.
Shadows of You pulled me in from the prologue. It’s been obvious throughout the series that both the hero and heroine had secrets but who would’ve thought the pain that they lived with daily. This book had everything I love in a book. From a gripping plot filled with mystery, intrigue, danger and suspense, wonderful characters and a smalltown setting that is anything but cosy, I can’t recommend this author strongly enough if you’re a fan of the romantic suspense genre.
I honestly don’t think I’ve listened to a Catherine Cowles’ audiobook and not instantly been transported into the story by the narrators and in Shadows of You, together Zachary Webber and Maxine Mitchell made for yet another fantastic listening experience. Zachary imbued every ounce of Roan’s loneliness and longing into his portrayal while the versatile Maxine gave a wonderful performance not only giving voice to the weary but fierce Aspen but also the young and effervescent Candy. Her Mr Grizz tugged at my heartstrings, and I loved every second of this story as Roan not only fell in love with Aspen but with his tiny dancer as well.

Love this series so much!
This series just keeps getting better & better!
I absolutely loved this latest installment.
A combination of excellent writing and fantastic narration by both narrators meant that the story had me hooked all the way through. Lots of plot intrigue and red herrings kept me guessing, and a wonderful love story between Roan and Aspen.
Already looking forward to Lawson's story next.

Kind hearts are the best hearts💕
Welp! The grumpy Roan has my heart melting like cocoa smash! I’ve been waiting for his story and it is perfect. He’s a fierce protector and surprisingly sweet & kind. He calls Aspen, Tender Heart, but his is just as tender. He may not express himself often but when he does it’s a beautiful thing🥰
Aspen & Cady have been on their own for years…they have the sweetest & kindest hearts. One unexpected run in with Roan and all their lives change for the better.
Aspen, Cady & Roan’s HEA is so deserved. They each have their battles and are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
Roan & Cady just about broke me! Gosh they are so dang sweet!!
I was lucky enough to listen to the audiobook and Maxine & Zachary are freaking amazing as always! Their performances are as awesome as a double chocolate peanut butter muffin;)
💕fave quotes 📖
“You’ve got the best heart, you know that?” Cady smiled up at me. “Kind hearts are the best hearts, right?”
“Holy he11. Was that a smile?” Nash gaped at me.
My mouth went flat again. “Shut up.”
“Aspen must be a miracle worker, man.”
“You’re the light in the shadows. Always have been. Always will be.”

A story of how and joy
Roan and Aspen both have devastating pasts. They both had found a "normal" after awful circumstances. The story is full of chemistry and hope.
Maxine Mitchell and Jacob Morgan add another dimension of fabulousness to this wonderful story

Obsessed with Roan, Aspen + Cady! 💖 Shadows of You might just be my favourite Catherine Cowles story of all. Narration is *chefs kiss* duo! I could listen over and over and not get fed up!

Fantastic story in a world you want to live in.
Small-town romantic suspense is my comfort trope. I absolutely adore it when there’s a mix of strong blood family ties and the new bonds of found family. Catherine has created this gorgeous community in Cedar Ridge, and I loved being back there.
Aspen’s taken refuge in the small town with her wee girl Katie. She’s been laying low ensuring the shadows of her past don’t catch up with her. Roan is the surly quiet brother who melts when he’s given the nickname Mr. Griz by Katie. You can count on Catherine to lead you on a wild goose chase when it comes to plot. I totally thought the actual baddie was gonna be someone significant in another way. No spoilers here. Just know the delicious buildup to the spice is worth it. Catherine writes the cutest kids and Katie stole my heart with her menagerie of pets. This family is all about taking in those whom others have rejected.
Maxine is one of my favourite female voice actors, and she does a great job with this one. Her timing and range of voices are on point. The bonus is that she has an amazing male voice, so her chapters were a delight to listen to. Zach never disappoints. He too, can give us all the kid cuteness but equally flips to the gruff overprotective loaner. I loved this audiobook and highly recommend it if you like your romance read to you.
With a great mix of family, animals, tension, plot, suspense, and a side of unexpected psych0, you won’t be sorry you picked this one.

A new favorite
I adored this story!! Definitely my new favorite Catherine Cowles book. Aspen and Roan have perfect chemistry. The story is small town, suspenseful, sweet and swoony.
Aspen and Cady have settled into a life in Cedar Ridge but Aspen feels she will never really be safe and is always looking over her shoulder. Roan has been a loner but is drawn to Aspen and Cady. He wants to protect them and they are exactly what Roan needs to help him heal from his past.
Shadows of You is book four in the Lost & Found series but could be read as a stand-alone.
I really enjoyed listening to this book on audio. The narrators both do a great job with this story.

Surprisingly enjoyable
This was a such a very grumpy male and so sunny female that I wasn’t sure how they’d get together, but they did and the journey was enjoyable if predictable. The inclusion of the most adorable child was a joy. Big story dealt with care.

Loved it!
This has been a highly anticipated release for me and it did not disappoint. I loved being back in Ceadar Ridge with the Hartley's. I've loved every book in this series so far and this single mum, grumpy hero story was everything I hoped it would be. The narrators were fantastic bringing Aspen & Roan to life. Throughly enjoyable listen and the fact that I didn't figure out who the bad guy was is an absolute bonus as I usually see that kind of thing coming from a mile away. We'll done Miss Cowles for successfully keeping me guessing on this one.
