About this listen

’Intense action and an enthralling female lead.’ L.A. LARKIN

The SUNDAY TIMES bestseller returns with the second book in the PC Lucy Clayburn series – a must for all fans of Happy Valley and M.J. Arlidge.

As a female cop walking the mean streets of Manchester, life can be tough for PC Lucy Clayburn. But when one of the North West’s toughest gangsters is your father, things can be particularly difficult.

When Lucy's patch is gripped by a spate of murder-robberies, the police are quick to action. Yet when it transpires that the targets are Manchester’s criminal underworld, attitudes change.

Lucy is soon faced with one of the toughest cases of her life – and one which will prove once and for all whether blood really is thicker than water…

Shadows by Paul Finch is a fantastic book filled with excitement . Well worth a read.

I have ploughed through quite a few of this author's novels but I reckon this is one of his best.

Gripping

Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to go on to the next one. I really like the narrator, there is nothing that can fault which really brings the book to life. In this book it delves far more into the personalities of the good and the bad, who and where they may or may not have relationships and of course who may be passing information.

Enjoyable but...

I did enjoy this and it was well read by Chloe Massey, but the action was a tad far fetched, especially in the motorbike chase scene. (No spoiler here!). I will look out for the next in the series.

Not the best

Became repetitive and a rather dull story line, held together by long winded action sections. Lazy writing style and an over use of 'as such'!

Disappointing

Lucy is not a likeable character. Found the story a little monotonous. Not one of Pail Finch’s best.
