About this listen
A dark psychological thriller from the author of the AUTUMN and HATER novels (optioned for film by Guillermo del Toro). Heading home late after a night out, Adam and Lucy Logan are involved in a horrific road rage incident. Their car is forced off a bridge and ends up at the bottom of a swollen, fast-flowing river.
Adam survives but Lucy drowns, trapped inside the sinking wreck. When he's released from hospital, Adam vows to hunt down the driver responsible for his wife's death and take revenge. But according to the police the roads around the bridge were empty. There was no other car. His world is turned upside down again when Lucy returns from the grave: an impossible shadow of her former self.
Adam's feelings for Lucy overtake his fear, and together they realise their only option is to find out what really happened on the bridge that tragic night. Until then, Lucy remains trapped on the fringes of reality between life and death. She's shadowlocked. But the deeper Adam digs, the more he begins to realise there was much of Lucy's life - and subsequently her death - that he knew nothing about.

Fantastic
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and turns. Narration was outstanding, so much emotion put into it. Brilliantly narrated.

Simply Brilliant!
I confess to initially approaching Shadowlocked with a little bit of trepidation, as I knew that the theme was going to be somewhat of a departure from David Mooddy's previous work.
I have to say that I need not have worried, David successfully delivers a brilliantly gripping storyline with all the skill and maturity of the seasoned author he has become.
It's difficult to expand upon the story here, as it's an amazingly clever plot, told from a first person perspective, somewhat of a roller coaster ride with unexpected diversions, as a male reader I found that there was a degree of self assessment, as it emerged that my commonplace initial character identification gradually evaporates as the storyline progresses.
For longtime David Moody fans, there is still the supernatural thread, but again, I can deliberately offer no spoilers here!
this certainly deserves to become a TV drama or movie.
Finally, a word about the Shadowlocked audiobook, this was a truly amazing delivery by narrator Aubrey Parsons, he does not merely read the book, he both acts and performs it, making the characters, entirely believable as they come alive in your mind.
It's an emotional and clearly heartfelt reading, that will take you on quite the journey, where as the reader, you may well find that your percieved road map gets torn in half before ever reaching the final destination.

Not his best work.
One paced and predictable, you'll have worked out the ending before you're halfway through the book, at which point the narration starts to grate as you push on to try and get to the end.
