Summary
Born in the Dhakki Naalbandi area of the walled city of Peshawar in 1932, Mohsin Ehsan did his master's in English literature at the University of Peshawar and then joined Islamia College as a lecturer in English. He retired as head of the English department of the college. He was awarded the President's Pride of Performance award in recognition of his meritorious services to literature. He had to his credit 13 books.
It was in 1947 that he turned to poetry composition. His contribution to Urdu literature in general and Urdu poetry in particular was recognized at the national and international levels. His poetry was highly lauded by the literary circles in India and Pakistan. Besides, he translated John Dryden's play All for Love and GB Shaw's play Arms and the Man into Urdu. He also wrote numerous articles on literary criticism and book reviews that were published in leading literary magazines of the country. Some of his selected poems were translated into English, Chinese, Hindi, and Malaysian languages.
