About this listen

Will my magic save the realm... or drive me into madness?

In the wake of an uprising of illicit sorcery, my men and I find ourselves on the run—determined to clear our names by protecting the kingdom.

But to face off against the psychopaths who want to remake our country into a realm of chaos and brutality, I'll need to tap into my wild magic. And the god who's watched over me expects me to stand on my own now.

If I can't overcome the odds against us, the lives of the men I love are forfeit. But how far can I go without becoming what I've feared most?

*Secrets of Graves and Gold is the third book in a new fantasy romance series full of forbidden magic, impossible love, hot damaged men, and a rebellious heroine who's so much more than she imagines. There is one more book to come.*

It just keeps on getting better and better!

Another great book from Eva Chase. This story is super twisty and just when you think one thing will happen, it turns on a dime and something else happens.

This story has action, secrets, magic, some spice and lots of emotions that keeps you hooked from first page to last one.

I love the gang of guys Ivy collected and we get to see their relationships continue to grow.

The twists will keep you guessing and you won’t believe how this one ends!

As always, Michelle Sparks and Jason Clarke did a wonderful job on the narration!!

This is gearing up for an epic finale!

When I reviewed this initially, I marked the book as a three stars as although I enjoyed the first two books in this series but I didn't engage with this one as much so have marked this lower in comparison. However, I found the audiobook a little more accessible and the performances have brought this up to a four star for me. Michelle Sparks has one of the best cadences I have listened to - I feel she plays Ivy with an air of restraint much like the grips Ivy has with her magic and seeing that side of the character blossom really came out in the performance.

There were a lot of moments I loved such as Stavros' development now he was all in and his scene with Ivy when she told him what he wanted to hear. And Rheave! What a character - I adore him and his POV's were such a highlight - Jason Clarke's performance made me love him that little bit more. Casimir and Alek took more of a back seat in this one so much so I forgot Alek was there at one point but they were more prevalent in the earlier books so across the series it probably balances out.

The pacing was quite slow which after the epic start just dragged a little and thats what I didn't enjoy as much - there was a lot of going from A to B but I love Toast and I liked how he was on board with Rheave from the get go. I enjoyed the section at Haven and Sulla's pettiness when they left (although her motivation was fair) and was disappointed that section didn't run for longer as it was quite interesting. I hope Sulla comes back for the next book as there is so much more to the Riven than they first thought. The intro of the one of the Order of the Wild's main leaders was a nice twist although I am still holding out hope for a resurrection from book two. Knives is still my favourite nickname but Little Vine is tied second with Lady Thief.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Thrilling listen

This of starts of at a gallop and races on. Ivy and her men are on the run and there is a new member of her group Rheave, is a wonderful addition. His child like fascination with Ivy and the world around him. Ivy struggles to control her riven magic. This is a great read, we learn more about the characters and the relationships between them go from strength to strength. This story has everything danger intrigue adventure and romance.
I could not put this book down, this is a wonderful read and I look forward to the last book in this series. Lady of Doom and Devotion.

Why Choose Fantasy Romance

Secrets of Graves and Gold by Eva Chase is a why choose fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michelle Sparks and Jason Clarke. This is the third book in the Rites of Possession series.

I absolutely love Eva's books! She did an amazing job keeping me hooked through this book. I really enjoyed getting Ivy, Stavros, Casimir, Rheave and Aleksi's points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Jason and Michelle did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

The book ended on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Lady of Doom and Devotion to be released on June 5, 2024.

I would recommend this series if you're looking for a fantasy romance, slow burn romance, or why choose romance.
