Summary

In this captivating and transformative tale, the life of Sebastian takes a dramatic turn when a curse is unjustly placed upon him by an innocent woman, whom the superstitious villagers label as a witch. Little does Sebastian know that this curse will reshape the course of his existence, marking him as the inaugural Lycan, the first of his kind. As he grapples with the newfound challenges of his lycanthropy, he is faced with a consequential decision that alters the fate of his closest friend, transforming him into a werewolf.

Breaking ties with his past, Sebastian embarks on a journey to uncharted lands, seeking a fresh start and leaving behind the stigma of the cursed life he now leads. Amidst the uncertainties of his new reality, love blossoms, adding a layer of complexity to his journey. However, the tranquil romance is soon overshadowed by the looming threat of an impending war between the Lycans, Sebastian's kind, and the vampires. The stakes are raised even higher as a formidable adversary, the powerful Drakulis, enters the scene, casting a shadow over the already tense supernatural conflict.

As Sebastian grapples with the intricacies of his curse and the challenges of leading his kind into an imminent war, the narrative weaves a tapestry of re-imagined contemporary fiction. The choices he makes and the promises he keeps become pivotal in this gripping narrative, where the line between right and wrong is blurred, and the consequences of one's actions reverberate through the intricate dynamics of the supernatural realm. This reimagined contemporary fiction explores themes of love, loyalty, and the burden of leadership in the face of an inevitable and perilous war.

A must read for your bookshelf!

Sebastian Swanson: Rise of the Lycan by S.K. Ballinger (Goodreads Author),
Justin Hamann (Narrator)

I received a copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sebastian Swanson, an example of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, when a woman accused of being a witch and sentenced to death chooses Sebastian from the onlookers and casts a curse on him. The curse becomes apparent on the next full moon as poor Sebastians' fate comes to life with his descriptive transformation to a Lycan as promised by the witch.

His life evolves and gains more intrigue with the involvement of the Drackulis along with the threat of a battle between them that inevitably must take place becoming obvious that Sebastian is not expected to be the winner, not by his enemy at least.

Until that fateful day, he lives his life as he desires, designing and building a beautiful home and then he falls in love. Realising he cannot avoid his destiny forever he returns to the area where his life began and where the inal battle ensues.

For any fans of vampire and Lycans this is a great read being the second in the series after “ Stanley Swanson - Breed of a Werewolf' “ and should definitely be included on your bookshelf.
The author has an appreciable writing style that lends tself to this theme with the suspense being palpable from the onset.
The narrator follows suit and is wellmatched, successfully creating a dark, sinister atmosphere with his voice complementing the overall tone of the book.

Rushed

I think this one is way too rushed. There is material for a whole novel and the author stuffed everything in less than 3h. Because of the, if felt rushed and one dimensional, which is a pity because I would really love to listen this story with a better execution.

The narrator was ok, there is a little bit of an eco in the recording, a little bit distracting but once you get used to it, it's ok.
