Summary

The gripping new Second World War novel from Sunday Times top ten best-selling author of While We're Apart.

After the death of her parents in a bombing raid, Mary Jones discovers a secret in the pages of her father’s diaries. Her search for the truth brings her to Cliffehaven on the south coast. Here she finds work at the Kodak factory, sifting through the airgraphs, which are being sent from all over the world by the men and women in the armed forces and by their loved ones. All the while she longs for news of her own sweetheart fighting in Europe.

With the help of Peggy Reilly and her family at Beach View Boarding House, Mary starts to build a new life for herself. But events that happened eighteen years before still echo, and should a promise Peggy made then be broken, it will have a devastating affect on not only Mary but them all....

Exciting mystery

This was the second part to book 8 and held me gripped to the end when the mystery was revealed. Lots of red herrings to keep you guessing.
Very enjoyable highly recommend
Prefer this narrator to the one in book 8 which I found annoying

Great story, gabbled narration spoiled it for me

I buy audible books to relax. The narrator's abrupt and gabbled style spoiled the story for me, will avoid in future. EDIT; I now slow down performances where I feel the narrator gabbles. This makes for a more relaxing listen!

Bit disappointing

While the first few Beach View books were engaging and full of action, these last two are a bit Mills and Boon. Lots of happy romances, handsome square chinned men and lovely young women. Although great to hear about the old characters I would prefer a bit more tension and, yes, unhappiness again...
