About this listen

The last thing Alex Shepherd expects is to be attracted to his new boss, hotel-mogul Scout Turner. Being the man’s personal assistant means spending long hours with him in both public and private settings. The public side of things Alex can deal with. The private? Not so much. Knowing Scout had fired his last PA for being a jealous stalker, Alex is doing his best to hide his growing feelings for the man and maintain his professionalism. That is until Scout makes an unexpected confession that changes everything. Will Alex lose the job of his dreams or gain the love of his life?

Scout is the first book in a steamy new M/M romance novella series by Dallas James. It contains low angst and high heat with a guaranteed HEA. Each book is a stand-alone, but they are best heard in order.

I need more!

This is a great book. With likeable characters with beautiful personalities, these characters have a lovely love story. Sean gives a brilliant performance, such a deep voice that will have you shivering with pleasure.

Perfect quick listen

I picked this book up as an arc read initially because I liked the look of the cover, it said it was a novella and I had a spare few hours to fill reading and I was not disappointed at all. Then I got the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and again there was no disappointment involved anywhere at all!

Dallas James has written a really great book; it has everything you want in a romance book. Firstly, a couple with a good back story, check; secondly, a reason for them to meet and fall in love, check; thirdly, a spanner in the works, check and check. And finally a HEA, big fat check!!!

DJ is a completely new writer to me and I think this is only one of two published books for them. It is extremely well written and has great pace and flow for a novella. It's really descriptive and draws the reader into the world of the characters. Dark corners of restaurants, high speed lifts, cliff look out points, forests, throbbing Hogs, and hot as hell kisses! As book one in the series the story line has obviously been used to set up future characters, but this doesn't take away from the book it enhances the story of the characters enriching their stories, entangling their back stories.

Our two main characters are two well placed men, however the book is written in such a way that they could easily be replaced by any people on the planet. The story is timeless and would work with anyone in the roles with some minor tweaks. Having said that the characters in post are great. I wasn't sure where the alpha was going to sit to start with and was a little surprised it ended up the way it did and not more equal in their personal lives. But what do I know, I'm just the reader lol. I really loved both the main men though, and felt engaged by them; I wanted to be their mum!!! They had a great secondary cast of characters, some of whom we will be seeing in future books and I can't wait for those.

Dallas has chosen a great narrator in Sean Crisdean; he has amazingly velvety tones that could soothe the most fractious of fathers, or mothers, at the end of the day! He manages the voices for all members of the male cast with ease, my only comment would be that not all middle aged female PAs are 'old crones' Sean!!!! Sean provides great emotion and warmth to the characters throughout the reading of this book, making the listener comfortable and part of the story.

I loved this book and audiobook and can't wait for the next. I'm totes recommending them for your Kindle today xx
