Heavy at times, but still enjoyable.
Having seen the bad press this book has generated, I started this with some trepidation. Although not the best book in the series it is still enjoyable, it is not the slog it is made out to be, it doesn't have lots of action but you are instead invited to figure out the motives of the God emperor through his journals and dialogue. What unfolds is an epic plan which will determine humanity's future in this universe.
Like Clarke & Asimov the scale of Herbert's plan is mind boggling.
So read and see where the golden path takes you.

Again I find that Simon Vance tells this tale Well
Although biased by enjoyment of this series I still find that Simon Vance, and the cast, portray this novel very well.
I enjoyed the difference of Leto in person vs his tone from the journal excerpts.

Not as bad as I was led to believe
As the title says this book really isn’t as bad as some of the reviews claim it to be, sure it’s a lot slower and doesn’t have as meaty a story as the others. It’s still a great listen and if you love the “Duniverse” it’s so fun to see the evolution of the different planets and cultures they have there.

Another thought provoking masterpiece
Probably the most interesting premise of any of the Dune books that I've read so far. It may come off as rambling but It is meant to be the debate of the future philosophy and ideologies of the universe since we're dealing with the scope of thousands of years. We're being given extremely fleshed out universe as a result. The build and lead to the conclusion was also fantastic, leaving a lot of speculation and debating to the events, purpose and possibly ulterior motives of some characters in book. A great follow up to Children of Dune. The narration was great but the interchanging of the female narrator was a bit jarring if they had kept certain characters to be only from that specific narrator it would have been better.

Solid narration as always, but a subpar story
when compared to the previous dune novels, the story feels lackluster, however the narration and setting was solid as always.

Epic of Epics
No one else can tell a story like this. Amazing in everything and part of the story. Frank Herbert is beyond comparison.

The saga contrinues
If you loved the three precceding books this serves up another dose of spice for you, while less of a hero story than Dune and chilren of Dune there are certainly enough moments to keep you hooked, oh and it sets up the story for herctics and chapter house nicely. Enjoy
