About this listen

A man forced to go home to the town that gave up on him.

A woman who fights to look past his reputation.

A love affair no one saw coming.

After leaving his notorious family’s reputation in the rearview, Toby reluctantly returns home to care for his ailing mother. When his old school crush takes the job to help him care for his mom, coming home suddenly has one hell of a silver lining.

Claudia knows all about Toby’s bad-boy reputation and has no intention of falling under his spell. But the handsome, kind, caring man she sees with his mother is not the same troublemaker she grew up with. Fight it as she does, Claudia cannot resist her blossoming feelings for the town bad boy.

When Toby’s past catches up to him and he’s falsely accused of a despicable hate crime, he’s shocked when Claudia, the daughter of a policeman, is the only person in town to stand up for him. Toby might be innocent, but he’s hiding an awful secret that could endanger Claudia and cost him everything he's ever cared about.

Can Toby and Claudia trust their hearts, clear his name, and find their way to love?

Saving Toby is the first standalone novel in the stirring New Adult romance series, Save Me. If you love deeply drawn characters, emotional roller coasters, and fierce devotion, then you’ll adore Suzanne McKenna Link’s story of star-crossed lovers.

Slow romance

I have mixed feelings about this audio. On one hand it is a sweet, slow moving love story, but it is also on the frustrating side and takes circuitous routes to its conclusion, making ut hard to truly relate to yhe main characters. There is much to-ing and fro-ing, with repeated uncertainties discussed at length. Both narrators, Gomez zpugh and Willa Jaymes, are good. Their delivery is sympathetic and sweet. 💖💖💖💖

Torn

I really enjoyed this Storyline. However, the main male character drove me insane most of the way through. I know they are in their early 20s for most of the story, but I felt he was in his teens. It’s only towards the end of the book that he grew up and decided he could think for himself. I absolutely adored our leading lady and this was the reason I stuck with it. She definitely deserved her happily ever after. An amazing performance.

Intriguing & Emotional! Great Story & Narration🎧

Wow, this first book of Suzanne McKenna Link’s “Save Me” series takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride, like no other. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about too. Claudia Chiametti, a college student interested in a career working with senior care, applied for a program at the Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California, knowing her controlling and overprotective father will not approve. She is taking a part-time job to as a home companion for a cancer patient, it will be hands on experience and look good on her resume. When she gets to the home, she realizes it is the Faye’s house, and the person she will care for is Julia Faye, who had some family drama in the past, with her husband and oldest son. She also went to school with her youngest son, Toby, who shows up while she was there. Toby came back home when his mother got sick again, and was working at a local store and also hooked up with old friends, friends who were not the best characters. Claudia and Toby were opposites, yet they clicked, and the author takes you on their journey of them getting to know each other, as well as their individual journeys and struggles. This is a multilayer story, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. There is plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance.Suzanne McKenna Link, thank you for this intriguing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Willa Jaymes and Gomez Pugh did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life. Their portrayal of the characters was spot on, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role they played. Jaymes nailed it as Claudia, grasping all sides of her personalities, from her insecurities to confidence and determination, with all in between. Pugh did the same for Toby, transforming as his character did, from an angsty bad boy to a person who had his act together in the end. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance enhances this story to another level. Thank you for the fantastic listen.

Unexpected Love

Claudia is a woman who knows what she wants in life. Toby is a young man who is spiraling while taking care of his sick mother. Claudia is tasked with caring for Toby's ailing mother spending a lot of time with Toby. She does nor expect to fall in love but does and when tragedy strikes everything is put to the test. Toby is a interesting character and his character evolved and grew because I was thinking he is not mature enough fir Claudia. Great performances by the narrators in telling this story I actually cried a few times while listening.

Emotional and wonderful!

I love finding new authors and this book by Suzanne McKenna Link has taken my heart, crushed it and put it back together. Claudia is applying to USC for a particular major that has a program difficult to get into. Working with old people is something that will help round out her resume, so taking on a job to help Julia Faye while she is going through cancer treatments is exactly what she needs. Toby is there for mother, helping her when he can, and Claudia's help is welcomed. Growing up in the same town, the two were in school together, but didn't cross paths socially. As they spend more time together, Toby attempts to charm her, and while she is taken with him, she has other goals. Her father is not on board for her to leave for college, and he definitely does not like her spending time at the Faye home. Trouble has been there, and guilt by association is following Toby when it comes to Claudia spending time with him. But can he stop love? With Toby's past, is he even able to give his heart to Claudia? How does his past and his mother's illness affect his ability to love? Link takes us on a their journey as they work through obstacles. It's evident how broken Toby is, but Claudia too has some issues to deal with as well. The question is, will they be able to get through and find each other in the end? All the feels are in this one, get ready for a plethora of emotions! It's an amazing start to this series, and I can't wait to the next in the series.

Willa Jaymes and Gomez Pugh bring this emotional listen to life. Jaymes is focused, stubborn, vulnerable and loving, as she voices Claudia and all of her turmoil. Toby is a tough one, and Pugh finds each facet of his brokenness and voices his feelings with pain and passion. I loved this team and their performance.

I enjoyed the dual narration of Willa Jaymes and Gomez Pugh

This book has such emotion and heartbreak. Toby grew up with violence; his father killed two people while drunk driving, while his brother is in prison for murder.

Claudia is the police chief’s daughter who studies hard and has plans to move to California for university. She caring for Toby’s sick mother. Toby had a crush on her, when they were at school, but but she moved away to a new school.
