Summary
Professional goalkeeper Patrick Harrington comes home to the US from England to attend the funeral of his best friend, Navy SEAL Ryan Rosen. Ryan's fiance is the girl who got away, the one he's been in love with ever since he set eyes on her in first grade.
Stephanie Carter's world turns on its axis when Ryan is removed from her life, but not from her heart. Ryan's best friend, Patrick, becomes her path to healing the trident-shaped hole left behind.
Compassion leads to passion as they find the possibility of a life together neither one planned or ever dreamed could exist. But Patrick must follow the calling his buddy Ryan had started. He knows his destiny is on Ryan’s SEAL team.
As he goes through BUD/S, Stephanie wonders if her heart would survive a second loss.
Patrick begins his first deployment to Central Africa, to extract or immobilize a powerful warlord who is terrorizing and spreading his brand of hate. With the outbreak of Ebola, the stakes are suddenly higher. But Patrick will soon learn how interconnected the whole world is. He comes face to face with pure evil and those who want retribution. In the dramatic conclusion, he learns the value of his SEAL brotherhood, and who he’s fighting for.

military romance
The blend of a pro soccer career and the Navy SEAL life was a cool concept, but I struggled a bit with Patrick at first. He seemed a little too carefree, but as he grew, I found myself rooting for him. Stephanie and Patrick’s relationship felt rushed at the beginning, but it found its footing in the second half.
JD Hart’s narration is amazing! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An emotional story
In their youth, Patrick, Stephanie and Ryan were inseparable, but their paths have diverged. Ryan has become a SEAL and at his funeral Stephanie and Patrick meet again after a long time. Patrick reconsiders his career choice and their relationship soon becomes more than friendship. But how do you deal with it when your second partner is also out on dangerous missions?
The book is entertaining and emotional and contains everything a good story needs: grief, drama, romance, action and suspense!
JD Hart is a brilliant narrator. He portrayed the characters perfectly, he read with variety and brought the story to life. It was a pleasure to listen to the audiobook.
