Ok
I have loved nearly everything LJ Shen has written. This was ok, but not my favorite…I think it’s because I just really didn’t like Aria and found it hard to relate to the attitude/decisions she made. I did like that Christian/Nici did seem to truly understand the person she was and loved her anyway and I guess there is someone for everyone!

Good but suspend belief
Between all my thrillers I love a good romance. In 2022 Romance was second most read genre.
I enjoyed this book but it has its flaws. We all know these books are unrealistic but for this one you have to suspend your belief that she does not recognise him at all. I spent the entire book thinking I recognise people I went to school with with ease and yet she is clueless despite him dropping anvil sized cleavers around her.
However, putting that aside the romance serves it purpose and I actually really liked the authors style.
Overall this is a good read as long as you suspend belief a little.

This was my first look at LJ Shens Cruel Castaways series.
I listened to Ruthless Rivals in one sitting, I really enjoyed Arya and Christian's second chance romance, enemies to lovers story. I did get Anatomy of a Scandal (Netflix series) vibes from the subplot regarding her fathers court case and his history with Christian. I didn't think there was as much chemistry between Arya and Christian as there have been between her characters in in other books, like The Boston Belles etc but this was brilliantly narrated by Joe Arden and Stella Bloom.

This is a slow burn romance with plenty of angst and twist and turns. The story as a quite engaging storyline with lots of complexity.

Great book
I wish małe narrator was different or read in a different manner. He always sounded flat. I every book the same and it took away a lot from this book

another great book boyfriend!
I listened to this on audible, and I couldn't stop listening. I really enjoyed this story and my heart broke for 14 year old Arya and Nicky and even though you know they're going to have this moment when they find each other again, I still 'awwwed' and did a little giddy dance.
