About this listen
Davey’s Rule number 95: Daddy knows that every date or outing deserves a kiss.
Note: This mmm short book is a Davey’s Rules Novella and should technically be numbered as book 3.5 due to its shorter length.
Landon Prescott and his sweet little, Mikey, have a solid relationship. Nothing is missing, they are happily in love, and life couldn’t be better. An accident while shopping brings MIkey into the emergency room at the hospital where daddy Landon has privileges and Mikey finds himself fascinated by the same twitchy ER doc that has caught Landon’s eye once or twice.
Dr. Chris Kowalski is in his final year of residency and the future looks rosy...if he could just get a good night’s sleep and maybe be a little less clumsy. The problem? Aside from needing a better living situation, Chris needs time with his inner pup...time he hasn’t had in several years.
With a nudge from Davey and a couple other familiar faces, Chris finds himself at the club with the two men that he hasn’t been able to get off his mind. Will Mikey get the pup he begs his daddy for? And if so, how will it work if they decide to bring a third into an already solid relationship?
This mmm romance is number four in a series about not-so-perfect daddies, adorable “boys,” and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules. Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels you’d want from a Susan Hawke book. Please be aware that this is a bonus book to the series, a 24k short novella rather than a full-length novel.

ADORABLE
I love Mikey and having his story as a short is a great addition to a wonderful series. the story itself was really unexpected and just the sweetest. Michael Pauley continues to be wonderful.

An enjoyable listen
I really enjoyed this "half" book in the Davey's Rules series. Michael and Landon have a lovely dynamic that is found throughout the series, but in this book we get a lovely look at their actual relationship. Adding a pup to their dynamic really sets a great premise for this story line. Hawke has done a fantastic job of giving us this wonderful trouple and Pauley has done another wonderful job of bring these characters to life. Truly not a book to be missed.

Love this series
Susi has yet again written a fabulous book with snark and tender bits but always a HEA. Everyone should read Davey's Rules.

4.5* of absolute gorgeousness
This has been my absolute favourite of the series so far! We’ve seen glimpses of little Mikey and his Daddy in previous books and in this story they “adopt” a pup who is a Dr at the local hospital. Michael Pauley is brilliant as usual, My only issue is that it should be much much longer.

Adorably awesome but not long enough!!
So much is packed into this tasty little number!
We get some cheeky insight into Mickey/Michael and Landon’s relationship in and out of the bedroom as well as meeting an adorable, somewhat suppressed pup, Chris or later know as Topher. These three are so sweet together and I’m so glad we got to see more of Landon and Mikey! I especially loved the sass and boldness of Michael we got to see 😉 I’ll admit I was surprised LOL.
This is a beautiful, yet short, read/listen and will endear you further to these three characters. I felt that there was so much more to these three and especially Chris’s past that could be expanded on (perhaps another novella again later, please Susi, we’re desperate!) Either way its a beautiful read and of course we were able to get our Davey fix in, before the next book!
I love this series and this is an adorable addition!!
Thanks for reading!

A Boy and his Puppy
I love how quick Susan Hawke is at getting her audio versions of her books out. Rules To Grow was a novella originally written as part of a giveaway, and ended up being possibly my favourite of an already fantastic series. The story centres around an already established and much loved couple in the series, Mikey and Landon, who have the sweetest ageplay Daddy-boy relationship. Seriously, Mikey is so beyond adorable. Since they are already an established long-term couple, the story instead focuses on a change in their dynamic - the introduction and welcoming of a third who happens to find piece as a pup. Obviously every boy needs a puppy! Christopher is equally adorable, and so in need of the love Mikey and Landon extend to him. My absolute favourite part is how much they draw him into their lives, while adapting their own relationship too. It really felt like they were creating a whole new bond as opposed to just tacking on a 3rd. The kink is hot and sweet, and once again Michael Pauley does a stellar job of the narration. so love his ability to really create a character that matches perfectly with the author's description. His timing is awesome, and it is so fun to revisit past characters. a great story and audio!

I wanted more of all the characters in this book!
Oh my goodness I loved Mikey and Landon. From the glimpses we had seen of Mikey in the previous books in the series I knew he was going to be such a sweet boy. And my goodness he really was. Daddy Landon was amazing too - and Topher, oh my heart broke for poor Topher. So glad that we got their story - though I’d have loved more from Mikey and Landon getting together all the way through Topher joining them and beyond. Fantastic listen and the narrator really brought them to life clearly and wonderfully.

Short and sweet!
This series is one of my favorites by Susan Hawke, it's just so much fun and angsty and hot and I live for those Davey moments. This novella was the perfect addition to it, short and sweet, with just a tiny dose of angst to temper it down a bit.
I suggest reading or better yet, listening to the first 3 books of the series before delving into this one. We get glimpses of Mikey and Landon in them and of course, you need to meet Davey and bask in his awesomeness. LOL
I'm not particularly fond of books where an established couple adds a third to their relationship, but in this case, it works. Mikey is the little, Landon is the Daddy and Chris becomes their puppy and is the perfect addition to their dynamics. They have tons of chemistry and it was great to see how balanced their relationship was and how each of them got something from the others that they didn't realize (or didn't think they'd ever get, in Chris's case) they were missing before.
Michael Pauley did a fantastic job bringing to life these characters, from Mikey's cuteness to Chris's exuberance as a puppy and his awkwardness when we first met him to Landon being the Daddy that they both needed and of course, I really don't think anyone else could perform Davey in such a masterful way.
Definitely recommendable!
