About this listen
The second book in the internationally best-selling series!
A deadly contagion has spread across the country, turning the afflicted into violent monsters and the streets into battlegrounds. The government has fallen. Once great cities lay in ruins. And those cursed with immunity have braved the chaos to take shelter in military bases unprepared to withstand the continuous attacks of the infected.
But that’s not the worst part.
An ancient evil intent on bringing about the end of the world has awakened. Fortunately, a Hopi elder who’s spent his entire life awaiting the fulfillment of the prophecies foretelling its return has traveled the highways, leaving signs summoning the chosen to the site of humanity’s last stand.
If they can reach it in time.
An FBI agent and a prescient teenage girl need to fight their way down the west coast. An expert on indigenous languages and a woman with precognitive abilities must battle inland from the east. And a pair of scientists have to escape from a doomed research facility so they can share a discovery that the entire world needs to know: The virus runs its course in 72 hours. All the immune have to do is survive that long.
And pray the forces of darkness don’t find them first.

Siri reads this
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, I even listened to the first one before starting this cluster f***.
I don’t normally leave reviews but this has inspired me…….
The recording is simply incredible. How this ever passed a production process is beyond me. It sounds like a computer generated voice. As for the story I don’t really know. I got an hour in to it and just couldn’t go on. It was painful.
This is going back as I feel coned

Bad narration
Great story why on earth can’t the producers stick with one narrator the first book was slow but good . This one was getting to the meat of the matter but the narrator ruined it for me

It’s a human narrator?
The story is not the problem. If you liked the first book you you’ll like the story in this, but…
This is probably the WORST narrator I’ve ever heard. Is it an early version of AI? I’ve heard deaf people speak with more animation. Siri sounds more human. I almost dropped it in the virtual trash can. A zombie would be better

How did the narrator get the job!!
Found it difficult to get into the story this time and the robotic voice of the reader definitely makes it really hard to listen to. I still can't decide if the story is any good because the tone (or lack of any) from the narrator makes the story feel boring. If they re-record it with reader from the first book, it might be easier to gauge the quality of the story bit the performance pours cold water over the whole thing. Probably won't bother with the third book when it's produced unless they get a decent narrator!

Still a brilliant story but…
It’s because this story is so good that I stuck with it.
The narrator is different in this book , oh man , she is not just emotionless but she almost sounds like a robot as she speaks each word individually. Like a shopping list . It took me about four hours to adjust enough to follow the story and I had to rewind frequently. Why would you write such a fantastic book and not vet the narrator?
I’m going to see if there’s a book 3 . I’m scared to look though incase it’s the same narrator . Wish me luck
I would actually buy these books again if they were put out with a good story teller .
