Summary

I wanted him. He wanted to ruin me.

It was the blood I noticed first. Running down the neck of the man on the ferry. Then his bruised knuckles, dark eyes, and arrogant smirk. The handcuffs came last. No one else paid him attention, but I couldn't look away. Or deny my instant lust. I had no idea he was being imprisoned on the remote, dark Scottish island I knew well. Or that he'd been kidnapped, not arrested. I went from that naïve girl on the boat, dreaming of stolen kisses, to the one who held the key to his prison cell. When heat turns to hate, all that's left is ruin.

Ruin, book one in the Dark Island Scots series, is a new adult romance with dark themes, including angst, lust-to-hate-to-love, and lost innocence. This series will be deeply interconnected, so expect the occasional wicked cliff-hanger. It'll be well worth the heart palpitations.

Lose yourself in Ruin.

Enthralling story

Totally immersed in the storyline from the beginning as Thea and Ruin have an unconventional first meeting.
The multi character narration brought the story to life with Zara and Zachary doing an excellent job.
Looking forward to Sin's story ❤️❤️

Dirty sexy bad boy.

This book is much darker than a normal jolie vines book, but it is just as much a thrill ride. The audible narration just gives it life. 5*

Fantastic start to this series

This was a reread for me but I read it quite a while ago now and loved listening to the story.
This is book one of a series (which is now complete) and it’s packed with mystery and intrigue. From the first page I was hooked.
Thea and Ruin are fantastic main characters.
This is a darker side to what Jolie has written previously and I’m 100% on board. Check the triggers as there are definitely some morally grey acts and some red flags.
Great listen!

Such a thrilling story!

Well, when I heard that Zachary Webber was going to narrate this story, I was curious to hear his Scottish accent. I must admit, I was pretty impressed!

I just ADORED this story! It was dark, gritty and scorchingly passionate. This author has always been fantastic at her craft, but I definitely feel that this series will push her up to another level. Thea's personal journey from meek and gentle girl into a woman of courage, who fights to take control of her life, was heartwarming and almost victorious. I loved her innocence, her good heart, and her passion for Struan. In turn, I adored how Thea made him feel - giving him the tenderness, love and belief that he'd been crying out for all his life. Struan was a brash hothead but I loved his fierce possession of Thea, and the way she made him feel vulnerable and raw. They made an unlikely pair but were so right together. Such an amazing start to a new series!

Zachary has always been brilliant with these angsty, emotional novels and this one was no different, plus the added dimension of listening to him with a Scottish accent. Overall, I thought he did really well. I've never listened to Zara before but loved her voice and and delivery. A fantastic audio!

ruin

I enjoyed the dual narration of Zachary Webber and Zara Hampton-Brown

Struan is a bad boy and Thea is the perfect good girl, but all it took was a ferry ride for the attraction to ignite. This is the first book in series, and it does end in a cliffhanger.
