About this listen
From best-selling mystery author Stephanie Caffrey comes a hilarious mystery, Sin City style. With a sassy mouth and a penchant for drunken shoe shopping, Raven McShane may be Vegas' most unlikely new detective, but she always gets her man.
Which is why Hollywood heiress Melanie Weston needs Raven's help. When Melanie got serious with a cute Englishman she thought she hit the jackpot - especially when he claimed he was a distant member of the royal family. But now things don't quite add up, and she wants Raven to investigate Prince Charming's story. Along with her sexy, muscular sidekick, Raven suddenly finds herself chasing stories, making enemies, and putting herself in far more danger than she bargained for when her digging uncovers a sinister plot that goes way beyond happily ever afters.
Raven may have more experience with platform heels than putting away bad guys but she's determined to stay one step ahead of trouble, solve a murder, and look fabulous the entire time!

What happens in Vegas makes for a fun mystery
I enjoyed this book. This was an unusual story line, it makes a lots of twists as it unfolds and I don't mean dance moves. Raven is such a great character and I love the way she straddles the line between two jobs. Private investigator is her passion and ticket out of a hard life but by night she has to return to stripping at a Las Vegas night club,, where she not only makes good money but also friends and without her friends she would be in a whole lot of trouble. That's not to say she isn't clever or capable but because she tends to find herself in dangerous and often humours situations, that she can't do it alone. It also helps that she has a connection and possible love interest with the two men most willing to help out. The mystery was good and I had no idea who the killer was and to be honest you spent most of the book trying to work out why there were two men claiming to be married to the murdered victim. A very different series but a fun cozy mystery set in a city where anything can happen.
Raven is surprised when her neighbour asks her to investigate her maybe boyfriend, who claims to from English royalty. Raven doesn't believe his story especially when he needs money to help fight in the courts, in order to gain access to his inheritance and Raven sets out to prove he is lying. Before she can do more than set up surveillance her client does of a drug overdose. With the clients large pay check burning a hole in her pocket Raven decides to use the unused money to investigate her death. But first she has a royal to chase down and find out why her client lied to her and find out what is really going on.
I liked the narrator. I am not sure she pulled off the English accent but each person had there own sounding voice.
