Summary

In this Aga-saga of country life, Midsomer Murders meets Jilly Cooper with a dash of Fifty Shades thrown in.

This romp in the hay, racy thriller set amidst the horsey scene, introduces bad boy Charles, the rich city trader, and his East End wife, Jennifer, who live an idyllic and privileged rural lifestyle. But life in the country isn't always the box of chocolates it seems, especially when Charles' sins catch up with him. After a one-off and reckless sexual encounter in London with Laura, she decides to seek her revenge, encouraging urban invaders to destroy the rural harmony; and when the two worlds collide it brings about a chain of catastrophic and far reaching events that will guarantee a rough ride ahead for them all.

UUmmmmm

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Not sure if this is a good book or no: I gave up after 1hr 37mins 38secs. For me the narrator was just unbearable. I have listened to books longer than this one, ones with more character introductions than this one etc etc, but. . .

What could P. J. King have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Chosen another narrator

Would you be willing to try another one of Chris Stafford’s performances?

No

What character would you cut from Rough Ride?

didn't get far enough to say

Terrible narration

Would you try another book written by P. J. King or narrated by Chris Stafford?

A good story completely ruined by the worst narration it's ever been my misfortune to listen to. I nearly gave up so many times - Chris Staffords voice was lifeless and the mispronunciation drove me to distraction .

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the characters (when I could work out who was supposedly talking)and the horsey element was great.

How could the performance have been better?

Get another Narrator!!

Did Rough Ride inspire you to do anything?

Would love to read more from this author, but 'read' is the operative word. I couldn't listen to Chris Stafford again.
