About this listen
Who has not dreamed of life on an exotic isle, far away from civilization? Here is the novel that has inspired countless imitations by lesser writers, none of which equal the power and originality of Defoe's famous book. Robinson Crusoe, set ashore on an island after a terrible storm at sea, is forced to make do with only a knife, some tobacco, and a pipe.
He learns how to build a canoe, make bread, and endure endless solitude. That is, until, 24 years later, when he confronts another human being. First published in 1719, Robinson Crusoe has been praised by such writers as James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, and Samuel Johnson as one of the greatest novels in the English language.

Interesting Book but Meh!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This book was on a list of must reads... maybe it was just the narrator but this was a bit of a struggle. One day i might try again with a physical copy.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The parrot.... In fact I think Castaway's Wilson was a more interesting character than Man-Friday.
Any additional comments?
While Alan Munro has a nice voice to listen to (Thus having more than 1 star), I found his cadence to be annoying at best. It seemed like this was his first read though and he might as well have been reading a shopping list with lack of passion he put into this.

Good story, poor choice of narrator
I have read this story before and it is excellent. The narrators voice puts me to sleep though

Dull, almost monotone reading
Would you try another book written by Daniel Defoe or narrated by Alan Munro?
The book is great, but it is spoilt by a dull reader. I will certainly not buy anything read by this narrator again.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Robinson Crusoe?
Lots. It is a super book.
How could the performance have been better?
Having it read by someone with more life in his voice.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
A different narrator would bring the book to life.
