Summary

This audiobook looks at 12 works written by Robert Burns which were inspired by nature.

We look at the works themselves, give a modern translation of each one and look at when, where, and, possibly, why they were written. This gives you quick, easy to understand information about Burns - so that you can surprise your friends with your 'in-depth knowledge.'

One of the biggest problems with reading Burns poetry is the language he uses, specifically the Scots words and dialects, which can be difficult to understand. To help with this, there is a full modern English translation of each poem directly after the original poem. There is also an extensive glossary of Scots words and their modern English equivalent included.

This is the second book in the Enjoying Robert Burns series. The first book is: Robert Burns: Women

I like the translation from Lowland Scots

This is a good reading of twelve of Burn’s poems, with a theme of nature.
I especially liked the translation into standard English as, though I could understand most of the original? stumbled quite a few times. On replaying the original poem after the translation I got a lot more out of it.
