About this listen

Red Schuhart is a stalker, one of those young rebels who are compelled, in spite of extreme danger, to venture illegally into the Zone to collect the mysterious artifacts that the alien visitors left scattered around. His life is dominated by the place and the thriving black market in the alien products. But when he and his friend Kirill go into the Zone together to pick up a "full empty", something goes wrong. And the news he gets from his girlfriend upon his return makes it inevitable that he'll keep going back to the Zone, again and again, until he finds the answer to all his problems.

superb

one of the best sci-fi books I've ever experienced, masterfully performed by Robert Forster.

I'm biased and I don't care

Best book ever written and the narrator makes a great Red schuhart. its a shame i haven't managed to find something similar to fill the hole it left after it was finished

Sublime

An excellent novel read by the late, great, Robert Forster. Truly engaging and well worth checking out.

I can honestly say that I was taken by every word!

Boldly and succinctly transported into another world without unnecessary filling in of back story, and beautifuly read too.

Long audiobook

It's difficult to follow the story when it's so long. I would appreciate a shorter dramatization.

The story itself deserves all stars. It is not a bad story at all, however for what I use it for it's too long and difficult to follow.

Great!

First off, Robert Forster is a legend and it was a joy to listen to him in what was a somewhat unlikely choice for narrator. For fans of the movie, it might be a surprise that the movie only adapts one of the books lengthy chapters. That leaves a lot of new material that fleshes things out further. Very good listen.
