About this listen
Augum, Bridget, and Leera want only to study new spells and make their legendary mentor proud. But when she unexpectedly departs on a crucial quest, they run afoul of a devious old witch and are forced to make a hasty getaway - straight into the hands of a notorious maniac known as the Blade of Sorrows.
Prisoners of the Blade and his sadistic apprentice, the trio must face its greatest challenge yet: escape using nothing but an ancient spell with some nasty side effects. But more than their lives are at stake, for an entire kingdom's hopes rest with their mentor - and she's heading for a deadly trap.

A little disappointed and annoyed in this chapter.
I was a little disappointed that Miss Stone wasn't as involved in this book. Also the part when a certain witch got involved in the story and started treating the girls like trash.. and how much Augum and the others got abused in this book, felt like they got abused this whole book, and it pisses me off because they're rather strong and intelligent.
I did however like the ending of this book, but still it felt really annoying with how much the main characters got abused, and I freakin' hate Robin...

Overdone Baddies
Although engaged with the story of the Hero/Heroines, (Oghan, Lera, Bridget, the students, and their super mentor Mrs Stone)
it doesn't correct the problem in its predecessor, Arcane.
Baddies have to be credible. Game of Thrones sets the standard (on this and many other params). If that scores 100, this one scores 1, which is a shame because all other elements of the storie actually make me interested to follow.

Tedious whiny kids
I usually like YA, and the first book made a decent start, but this one is just painful to listen/read. Nonstop whining and childish jealousy. Yes, maybe some kids are like that in real life, but why would I want this in a fantasy story?
Not worth listening to even if it’s free😑
