About this listen
The near future. A terrorist bomb destroys one of London's most iconic buildings and also kills the daughter of the head of the Chinese Secret Service and the son of a wealthy City Fund Manager. The furious and grief-stricken parents decide to extract a dramatic and world-changing revenge on the militants. Watching these events unfold is the future Head of the British Secret Service. China emerges for the first time as the military superpower of the 21st century, and Japan finds herself arbitrating between the world's monotheistic religions.
A brilliant fictional but credible exploration of current tensions between the West and militant Islam.
This title features occasional strong language.

This book made an atheist smile
What made the experience of listening to Revenge the most enjoyable?
I can see the characters before me, and can see how and why they think and act due to the brilliant descriptive language and characterisation. No fuss or flowery verbal detritus, just a constantly flowing believable story that grips to the end.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The head of the Chinese secret service. I would do the same as him in his position.
What about Peter Kenny’s performance did you like?
I have a mental block about remembering names, so Peter Kenny's brilliant characterisation by voice is a great aid to following the plot. I can see the faces.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me smile. As a committed atheist I would love to take part in the story.
Any additional comments?
I'm not so sure the Pope would do what is described in the story.

This book doesn't end. Most frustrating!!!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
After the 6hrs 40mins, it gets to the end of chapter 31 and the final sentence is...."The Serpent's Head continues with book.2 Chaos". However book.2 isn't included nor apparently available from audible.
What about Peter Kenny’s performance did you like?
His reading style and performance was good, my rating was due to the lack of book.2.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I enjoyed the audible, story line a bit far fetched but easy listening. Just want to know how it ends?
Any additional comments?
WHERE IS BOOK.2???
Just noticed the disclaimer at the bottom... Audible posts reviews at its discretion.. bet you don't post this, how else could you sell a book without an ending or book.2 to other unsuspecting readers. I wonder how many others have sent in the same review and not had it published. If I had read this first I certainly wouldn't have purchased without book.2.
