Summary

Dangerous. Thrilling. Compulsive. Revenge is the brand-new novel from the phenomenal number one best-selling author Martina Cole.

Be sure your sins will find you out.

Michael Flynn is untouchable in a world of power, money and violence. He fights for what he wants and he takes it, whatever the cost. He learns the rules of the life from the best, and when his mentor, legendary Face Patrick Costello, is taken out, no one questions that Michael Flynn is his natural successor. For Michael, loyalty - and crime - pay.

Michael Flynn rises to heights beyond anything the criminal underworld has seen. He owns everyone, and he rules his empire with an even but fierce hand. No one would dare challenge him.

Then the unthinkable happens. Perhaps Michael Flynn is not so untouchable after all. And he must learn that...without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins.

Good easy listen

Good story to stop and start. Rather graphic but I enjoyed it! Narrator just right for the setting.

Same same syndrome

Loved the earlier books. They were fresh and exciting. She’s a fantastic author. However, I haven’t read anything of Martinas for 10 plus years, recently after discovering audible I downloaded the old “classics” as I would call them, having read and loved paperback first time round I thought it’d be great to listen to them second time round to get a better perspective. So having downloaded ladykiller, two women and goodnight lady I listened and loved once again. However, what I did pick up on and perhaps something I forgot from years back is the repetitive use of certain words/phrases. E.g ponse! I heard it 4 times in a prologue in one book and dread to think how many over the whole books. Avaricious 3 times in one chapter and then if I heard that’s a “f**k up to Olympian standards” 20 times in one book then I don’t know how many, it’s also featured heavily in every book. Stroppy mare also featured heavily. It just starts getting annoying. Also all the stories are starting to be so repetitive, rags to riches, turns gangsta, makes it big, loses it all and either dies, gets released from prison or lives happily ever after. The other thing is, I feel there is too much waffling on about each characters background and feelings. I understand the need for descriptive writing but I started drifting so much recently when trying to listen to revenge! In fact I am still struggling with it. My advice. Listen to the older books rather than the new and try and move past the over use of certain words if you can as she is an amazing author but is starting to grate...

Not for everyone

Great story, loved how it went into details of the families but way too much swearing the c word was also very much used.
I think some swear words are needed to portray the story but it was non stop and the c word way too often. made me wince a few times.
But if it had a sequel I would want to continue to know the next chapter in their lives.
It certainly didn't shy away from violence and was very much in detail which I actually enjoyed as for once it felt completely true in those circumstances and times.
It had twists that you had no idea were coming which was brilliant. I couldn't wait to hear the next bit and would escape so I could listen to it.
