About this listen

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Gray Man series comes a startlingly realistic novel of World War III.

A desperate Kremlin takes advantage of a military crisis in Asia to simultaneously strike into Western Europe and invade east Africa in a bid to occupy three rare Earth mineral mines that will give Russia unprecedented control over the world's hi-tech sector for generations to come.

Pitted against the Russians are a Marine lieutenant colonel pulled out of a cushy Pentagon job, a French Special Forces captain and his intelligence operative father, a young Polish partisan fighter, an A-10 Warthog pilot, and the commander of an American tank platoon who, along with his German counterpart, fight from behind enemy lines.

Through grand land, sea, and air battles to a small unit fighting hand-to-hand in the jungle, Russia and the US face off in a terrifying but thrilling battle for world dominance - with constant the threat of a Russian nuclear detonation ever present.

Where were the British?

I did enjoy this but ignored my that the UK has a permanent military base in Kenya and a naval presence in the gulf and a forward military armoured unit in Germany or the ability to project air power from the UK across Europe was a bit frustrating.

A perfect blend of action and story

I’m surprised this book got so many other negative comments; it’s a perfect blend of action and story, with enough technical and political detail to keep it grounded, but also enough action hero level moments to keep you engaged and interested. Pacing is good, and it feels like a good techno-thriller action story.

Brilliant, good story and military jargon

The consolidated effort these two gentlemen put into this book is outstanding. Brilliant story line, the inclusion between the military operations work and executing their duties is well portrayed here. I was pleased to hear the technical jargon of the weapons and equipment. The battle scenes are on the go all the time.

Thank you for such a good book. I'm excited for part 2.. WWIV

Tom Clancy continuum story's

if you read or listen to Tom Clancy's books, you Know it's a great story. it builds the narrative, it paints the background and BANG, it BECOMES.
This follows the same format, a well written/narrated item. It WILL take a few listens, simply as it long, but it's a great one all the same.

Couldn’t stop listening!

I’ve listened to almost 200 books on audible and this was the most gripping one yet, the action was non stop, switching around the world and different players in the fighting seamlessly, stitching together an epic battlefield on many fronts.
I’m gutted it has finished, everything was perfect, the storyline, the level of detail on military hardware, the different characters and the narration, awesome!!! I hope there is a follow on book!!

Good story, realistic and gripping

It’s a gripping story from very early on illustrating, the impact of the war from ordinary citizen to senior officers.

Concentrate on the story

A great audio book. Be aware the story can flit easily especially with the who’s doing what. Once into the story then it’s just a matter of timing your meal breaks and work. You don’t want to leave it
