Summary
Take one aspiring cook, one judge, and a spoonful of romance...When Zoe Harper wins a coveted place in a televised cookery competition she's thrilled. It's a chance to cook her way to fame and fortune and the little delicatessen she's set her heart on. The first task has hardly begun when she finds herself with rather too much on her plate. Not only has she got to contend with the fiercely competitive and downright devious Cher, but she's fast developing an inconvenient crush on one of the judges - the truly delicious Gideon Irving.
All too soon there's more than canapés, cupcakes and cordon bleu at stake. Will Zoe win the competition or is Gideon one temptation too far? And is Zoe really prepared to risk it all for love?

Really great
I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. The story is great and I loved the characters as well as all the descriptions of food. Also the narrator does it very well and is not annoying like so many are. It's the perfect voice for the book.

Good fun with a modern twist
Would you listen to Recipe for Love again? Why?
Probably - lots going on, not always true to life but close enough to help imagine it occurring
What other book might you compare Recipe for Love to, and why?
Other Katie Ffords
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not moving per se, but the wet mattress scene sticks in my mind!

Good but cheesy
An easy listen but quite cringe worthy in places! An interesting concept (foodie world) though!

Another perfect Fforde...
As ever, Katie Fforde gives us another cheery, polite romance! I am a huge fan of hers, the only negative thing I can say about this is that it is so obvious she was watching the bake off and masterchef whilst writing! But a perfect, summer read, and read beautifully by Jenny Funnell.

Entertainingly romantic
Some incidents of humour and pathos which held the story together. The setting not the usual Gloucestershire but just over the border so Katie can be forgiven. I liked the way the recipes were touched upon, without dominating the story, but rather enhanced the characters personalities. A good audio book to listen to when on a summer holiday.

Easy listening
Brilliant story brought to life by brilliant writing. Narrator was tolerable I just wish they didn’t try accents as they rarely work.

Light and breezy like whipped cream
Having listened to some meatier books, I enjoyed this novel for its' simple delicate charm. I cared about the characters, booed in the right places, enjoyed the plot and was entertained. Zoe's character was good fun & Gideon wasn't your average 'shiny' man. He had depth and rough edges that made him believable. Katie Fford's offering to me was like a light meringue with whipped cream, sweet but not too sickly and refreshing if served between two heavier courses (I am seeing visions of steak and a cheese platter). I shall stop now before you are assaulted by more food analogies! If you like Fford, you'll enjoy this delicious escapism!

I've had dreams like this!
Loved this book which has romance and lots of moments of fun.
The sabotage, and mishaps that led to Zoe being disadvantaged throughout the competencies me of those dreams/nightmares where how ever hard you try you are unable to complete a task or find the place you are looking for. I found it frustrating, but captivating.
The end however was a little weak.
