Don't snap just sit back and enjoy a good book
I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book in this series that I have listened to but I have read or listened to a lot of her Sharpe mysteries so thought I would give this series ago too. Glad I did the story was a stand alone book but I think I might just have to check out the rest of the series to see what I am missing because if this is proof of what the rest of the series is like then I will definitely enjoy them. The characters are fun but it was the mystery that really caught my imagination and I kept changing my mind about who the killer was, which is always a bonus with a mystery. There was a number of suspects and all just as likely as the last. The author weaved a very clever plot with just her words that made you care about the characters and at the same time painted a picture in front of your eyes, whether it was the beautiful setting for the photo shoot or the hustle and bustle of the fun run all was easy to picture. All in all a nice cozy mystery and one I would recommend, In fact I have and my mum will be enjoying it soon.
Wendy is in the idyllic setting at Cascade Falls waiting to start photographing the bide to be and her four bridesmaids. The bridle party is late but that turns out to be the least of her worries when a tragic accident occurs and the bride falls to her death. Was it really an accident? The bride's cousin doesn't think so, she was scared of heights and would never have gone so close to the edge and she wants Wendy help getting some answers. Wendy the only one to have not known the bride so well soon becomes a confidant of the police and is asked to talk to the bridesmaids, as they might tell her more than they would the police. This normally wouldn't happen but the dead woman was set to marry the local boy made good in the music scene. With the photo shoot having taken place in a remote area, there was limited access to the bride and a small pool of suspects the four bridesmaids, the mother of the groom and lastly the groom himself. What was the groom doing turning up? but with them all keeping secrets and pointing a finger at each other Wendy will have to put down her camera and put on her detective hat if she wants to help the police and the first question that needs answering is was it premeditated murder or an accidental death?
I liked the narrator, she used a different voice for each character, which helps bring the story to life.

A really cute story!
I enjoyed this cozy mystery by a new author to me. The narrator did a great job of bringing it to life. I will continue to look for more books that they have done together!
