About this listen

Ryan Rosa has had a run of bad luck, but when he receives a VIP package for the newest and hottest game to come out in years, his luck takes a turn for the better.

But his good luck ends when he's stabbed in the back by a guild of players who betray him for a unique weapon he possesses. Ryan contemplates doing the one thing every player hates doing: rerolling his unique character and starting over. But even starting over won't save Ryan in New Realm Online. He'll have to work smarter to avoid using his last reroll.

This book contains the classic LitRPG elements of leveling up, dungeons, terrifying killer bunnies, crafting, and community building.

Entertaining with lots of potential

Now this book is a slight mix of "The Ripple System" and "All Trades" and since I'm a fan of both series, I definetly enjoyed this book.

The characters are solid, the world fairly interesting and the pacing is well balanced. The lore of the world is still a bit vague, but I sense that will change in future entries in the series.

I do have some slight issues with the book. Firstly, THE CENSORING. The author constantly chooses to replace curse words with "kid friendly" versions which is highly annoying. If you're gonna have your characters curse, don't censor it. It comes off pretty childish especially if other parts of your plot tackle sexual abuse and slavery like they do here. The other minor thing that bothered me is the establishing of the relationship at the end of the book which struck me as very sudden because the two characters don't really spend much time together.

This was my first time listening to Andrews narrating and he did a good job with it. There is room to improve, but it was a good performance.

If you're a fan of the LitRPG genre, I can recommend this one if you're willing to work with some flaws, its a good book overall and I will keep listening to the series.
