Doch Vicinius, inzwischen selber Christ, lässt nichts unversucht, seine Geliebte zu retten.

Henryk Sienkiewicz erhielt 1905 "auf Grund seiner großartigen Verdienste als epischer Schriftsteller" den Literaturnobelpreis. Sein schriftstellerisches Werk wird dem polnischen Positivismus zugerechnet.
