About this listen

The Drenai fortress of Dros Delnoch has fallen, and blood-hungry Nadir hordes sweep across the land, bringing desolation and despair. But with the Nadir triumphant, slavers seize a young girl in the tiny realm of Gothir, and a peasant boy steps off on a quest that will shake the world.

To rescue her, Kiall must cross the savage steppes and journey through the Halls of Hell, facing ferocious beasts, deadly warriors and demons of the dark.

But the boy is not alone. With him are the legendary heroes of Bel-Azar: Chareos the Blademaster, Beltzer the Axeman and the bowmen Finn and Maggrig.

And one among them hides a secret that could free the world of Nadir domination. For he is the Nadir Bane, the hope of the Drennai.

He is the Earl of Bronze.

Entertaining

I am admittedly biased, I love the works of David Gemmell and this is no exception. Not his finest work it is engadging and the main players are all well rounded. I am unsure whether he would have written the sequel if he had lived longer but it a sequel I am many fans yearned for.

Fantastic

I've read and reread this book. When I saw it had been released on audible I had to get it. Sean Barrett is excellent narrating this and has the characters down perfectly.

Fantastic heroic fantasy

David Gemmell has written another superb heroic fantasy story with engaging characters. The heroes being past their prime and flawed. The narrator is excellent.

First rate listen

Great addition to this storyline. I listen to all of the books one after another and was very impressed with the storyline. One complaint was the story insist you assume some of the storyline acting to clear some confusion but well worth listening too

The Ghosts Yet To Be

This is a time of heroes, albeit it ageing ones. It is a story of friendship, brotherhood, honour and, above all, love. It is also a book of sadness for those who will not make it to the end.

The Ghosts-yet-to-be ride again

Classic , Gemmell. The highest praise you can give in this genre. Performance is good and allows the story to unfold in centre stage right to the end .... some author's write well but struggle to give a satisfying ending; David Gemmell always delivers at the denouement and this is another example. A great joy to finally have these magical books available on Audible.
