Summary
Everyone leaves.
Love is risky business when you’re an assassin. Helena Madigan has lost loved ones to the family business before. Now that she’s in charge, she’s determined never to risk her heart again. Except every time Celia enters the room, she takes Helena’s breath away.
But the one time someone stays.
Celia Perri likes to be helpful.
She just wants to run the family auto shop, raise her kids, and help her brother plan his wedding. But when a drive-by shooting targets the garage, Celia’s simple life is upended. Now ensconced within the Madigan family, there’s no escaping Helena, the blonde bombshell she’s been crushing on for months.
It could cost her everything.
As the Madigans investigate, Celia witnesses their love and loyalty up close. And their business. Instead of being afraid, she sees a place for herself among them. She could be a confidant and caregiver - if only Helena would stop pushing her away. If only she’d admit their mutual attraction might lead to more. And if only someone would stop shooting at them long enough to find out.
Queen’s Ransom is the fourth book in the Fog City romantic suspense series. It can be listened to as a stand-alone, but is best enjoyed after listening to Books One through Three of the series.

Keeping Her Distance To Keep Her Safe.
FF, Crime, Suspense, Romance. Part of a series all featuring different couples but ideally need to be listened/read in order due to characters reoccurring in the different stories and relationships being mentioned/happening or developing in the other stories. I did not enjoy this as much as I feel I should have...the narration felt flat and dull and even though there was lots happening it was hard to focus 100% on the story due to this. overall I feel disappointed.

The Queen Finds Love
Queen’s Ransom is the fourth book in the Fog City series, a series that reminds me of an intense soap opera with a heavy focus on drama and mystery. This is a series that needs to be read in order, otherwise the reader will feel lost. The entire series is plot heavy and picks up where the last book ended.
Finally, the dust has settled and the new Madigan Empire has come out victorious, but things are not as peaceful as they seem. New danger arrives right on the doorstep of Celia’s garage in a barrage of bullets and squealing tires. From there, the Madigans have to race against time to neutralize the new danger that threatens their family and loved ones. During all of this, Helena and Celia’s relationship begins to heat up, but there are obstacles that both women will have to overcome for their happy ever after. I found the plot to be full of suspense and action that paired nicely with the development of the romantic relationship.

Wonderful!
This series is fantastic, and I loved this wonderful addition. Celia and Helena's story is amazing! They have great chemistry together, and it was a treat witnessing how they fought for their heart. The book is full of action, intrigue and danger in the middle of steamy scenes and heartwarming moments. One of the best in the series and a nice turn in the series. Ms García caught beautifully the essence of the characters with her vibrant voice and made an outstanding performance. Wonderful!

Great story and performance
We've seen similar stories before starring men, but this one with two incredible, smart, interesting and strong female leads was amazing. Celia discovers that she wants to be a support and to love and care for Helena but that role here never seems stereotypical or weak. To fit into Helena's world, Celia will have to summon reserves of strength she never knew she had. Loving is easy, getting someone else to accept that and be vulnerable with you is hard. Loved this world and these women. Samantha Garcia is a new audio performer for me and she is fantastic here. All the strength and emotional depth of the characters comes alive in her performance.

Enjoyable listen
I’m always game to jump into a book, no matter its origin story. Might I have enjoyed it more listening to the entire series? Yes. Was I lost? No.
I love lesfic books and don’t read enough of them. The heat between Helena and Celia was eclipsed by the genuine relationship the women formed. Was it a bumpy ride? For sure. Did they have a satisfactory happy ending? You bet. The mix of action and emotion was well-balanced, and I loved how both women were in non-traditional jobs. I also loved that Celia was a mom who managed everything. Kids are a challenge on the best of days.
I also enjoyed Samantha Garcia’s narration. She’s new to me, but I’ll definitely listen to her again. Overall a fun listen and I plan to go back and do the rest of the series.

3.5 stars
This was solid. While I haven't read the other books in this series, I didn't feel lost. This was compulsively readable. While I found parts to be a tad confusing, relationship wise, what I did like was the connection between Celia and Helena. The suspense aspect for sure kept me reading and I'm interested to see what else this series has to offer. This was a page turner for sure. I volunteered to listen to a complimentary copy and review. All opinions are my own.
