About this listen

"Police, what is your emergency?"

"They're in the house and they're going to kill me..."

My name is Marco and I am flawed. I know that. And I was fine with it until it cost me my family. Now, I'll do anything to get them back - even see a therapist. Which is a joke, because I am a therapist. At least I was before I was fired.

Now, with nowhere else to go, I've had to move out of the city and into the house I inherited here, in the idyllic fishing village of Porthcove, but only for as long as it takes to sell it.

Because something isn't right about this place.

You see, I need the money, so I've started seeing some of the locals, you know, as patients, but I tell you, there's something really disturbing about charming neighbors sharing chilling secrets. And it isn't just that. It's the other things. Strange, inexplicable things. It started with odd smells, creepy sounds, and then the intruders...oh God, the intruders.

Now, a child has gone missing, the police are asking questions, and I'm starting to wonder if they're right. Maybe I can't be trusted, but you should come and see for yourself; there's something seriously wrong with this place. It is something hideous, terrifying, and it's been here the whole time, just waiting to devour my hope, my sanity and maybe even my life.

Psychosis contains strong language throughout.

Wow

Absolutely amazing story with lots of twists and turns. Brilliantly written and narrated. Had me really immersed in the storyline and rooting for the main character throughout. Can’t recommend it enough for anyone who wants a book to be fully engrossed in.

Great book, found it on the wrong shelf.

This is not a horror or thriller, thou kind of a mystery. You know those book, where the character experience some weird shit and doubts his sanity. Well this is the other way around. In the begining i was intrigued and the last half of the book i just didnt want to stop.

A twist.

Thoroughly enjoyed the twist of this story. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Highly recommended if a psychological book is what you're looking for.

i dont know what i was expecting from this book however what i got has left me stunned the style of writing the never knowing where it leads and where it goes has left this as one of my absoulte favourites of the year and the narrator is what makes it a really enjoyable experience..

I Loved This Book

Took me a few chapters to fully immerse, but wow wow wow, absolutely amazing story.
The main character is so unreliable, and the relationship between the reader and this character so antagonistic, that it really needed a strong actor to convey the complexity of that private space between Marco's head... and essentially mine listening to it. Rosko Lewis did this with ease and confidence. He goes above and beyond to deliver a rounded and full portrayal of a man in free fall.
Initially the sex scenes/babble did my head in, I hate sex scenes in books, but actually this was a critical part of the story, and as the story progressed, worried me less and less.
I also had a psychotic episode, in my teens, and the detail and conviction with which the author deals with that internal head space was mindblowing and familiar, ditto the therapy sessions.
This book was funny, sad, frightening and hopeful.
So excited to have found this series. Thank you.

Absolutely brilliant. Could not put book down.

Narrator was fantastic really brought the story alive. Would definitely look at buying books with the same narrator. Have already bought second book and cant wait to see what comes next.
