About this listen

An action-packed and all-too-realistic vision of nations navigating the minefield of international intrigue, Protect and Defend is Vince Flynn's most explosive political thriller yet. The action begins in the heart of Iran, where billions of dollars are being spent on the development of a nuclear program. No longer willing to wait for the international community to stop its neighboring enemy, Israel launches a creative and daring operation that leaves a radioactive tomb in the middle of Iran's second largest city. An outraged Iranian government publicly blames both Israel and the United States and demands retribution.

Enter Mitch Rapp, America's top counterterrorism operative. Rapp convinces President Josh Alexander to sign off on a risky operation that will push Iran to the brink of revolution. But when Iran recruits Hezbollah master terrorist Imad Mukhtar, and a CIA effort goes disastrously wrong, Rapp and Mukhtar are set on a collision course that threatens to engulf the entire region in war. With the clock ticking, Rapp is given 24 hours, no questions asked, to do whatever it takes to stop Mukhtar, and avert an unthinkable catastrophe.

Critic reviews

"Flynn didn't invent the post-9/11 thriller, but he might as well have....[He] is the best pure adrenaline-charged action writer out there today." ( Providence Journal)

Too short!

Another great book. OK it may be me but I would've like Mitch to take his time a little more. I don't want to spoil it so will leave it at that.
OK onto the next Mitch Rapp book.

Gripping Story

A fast moving and gripping storyline as we have come to expect from Vince Flynn and hero Mitch Rapp. Pity the ending was so abbreviated otherwise it would get 5 stars.

Mitch Rapp being himself

New president same Mitch Rapp.

If you have read any of Vince Flynn's books staring CIA agent Mitchell Rapp you know what ro expect. A fast paced, well crafted story with twists and turns.

A good listen but I would suggest you read the books in order to appreciate all the nuances.

Mitch turns more Mitch!

Would you consider the audio edition of Protect and Defend to be better than the print version?

Have not read in print but the way Guidall voices the characters is the way I'd imagined them from others in the series I have read.

What did you like best about this story?

The Mitch legend is building more and more through this book. I started at the back reading The Last Man and enjoyed so much I am going back over the back issues

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Guidall voices the characters is the way I'd imagined

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I listen normally in the car whilst at work (around 30 hrs a week!) and found myself siting in car parks not wanting to get out!

Mitch Rapp. My hero

Would you listen to Protect and Defend again? Why?

Jack reacher, john puller....mitch is up there with the best. Mean and moody, one mega hard bar-stud but surely he deserves a bit of happiness soon!

What did you like best about this story?

If you like one mitch Rapp story you'll like them all.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All the same. Very good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was difficult to stop at times.

Any additional comments?

When we see mitch Rapp in a film?! And who will play him? Surely NOT Tom cruise.
