About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Get Prodigal Son, the thrilling new Orphan X book from best-selling author Gregg Hurwitz.
He can escape anything. Except his own past....
'Evan. It's your mother. I heard you help people....'
Evan Smoak used to be known as Orphan X: a figure as elusive as a rumour, until he came to the rescue of those who most desperately needed his help. The kind of help no one else could provide. The kind that caused concern in the corridors of power.
As a boy he'd been plucked from a foster home and trained as an off-the-books assassin inside a top secret US government programme.
Which is why, even forced into early retirement, he dare not trust the phone call. Nor the caller claiming to be his mother. Asking him to protect a complete stranger who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
None of it stacks up. Yet it bears the tell-tale signs of the secret world that made him. And from inside it, a deadly new threat to the nation's security.
But this time the danger is more personal than he could have ever imagined. Because blood runs deep....

Couldn't stop listening! Interesting character development, hope we see more involvement of the characters in the next book. Can't wait for the next one.

Good Story affected by narration
I’ve stuck with this series of books but the whining, sorrowful voice of the narrator almost has me giving up every hour or so. It’s a kind of torment that I put myself through - not sure why. Past sins maybe. I lose concentration because of the voice so would love a different narrator and then I’d listen again and engage more with the character whose strength is diminished constantly with the narrators depiction.

Fantastic!
Brilliant characterisation throughout: diverse and wholly believable. I love how the relationships between the characters is developing and evolving. I didn't see the cliffhanger at the end coming.... can't wait for the next book!

Another great storyline in the Orphan X series
I was gripped from the start with this book, really didn't want it to end. Scott Brick's narrating skills bring it to life. Left with a real cliffhanger of a finish, can't wait for the next in the series.

Glad I didn’t pay heed to some of the reviews
Some say not his best more like a soap and other rubbish. Even down to the narration. Yes takes a couple of chapters to get into - what book doesn’t. I loved hearing more of Evans backstory. Love all the characters he interacts with and narration for me was a a great as ever.Greg’s books are something you want to get into and listen eagerly to not the often ear fluff of other audio books. Excellent series and am about to plunge headfirst into his next explosive offering.

Everything you want and more
This is the best thriller series by far. Gregg Hurwitz manages to carry you along Orphan X’s journey of discovery, finding out who he is, whilst building nail biting tension, breath pausing emotion and exasperating relief. The characters are sublime and real, brought to life by the brilliant Scott Brick. They are a match made in literary heaven.
