About this listen
With Princess Sultana's Circle, the extraordinary story of Princess Sultana continues.
The forced marriage of Sultana's niece to a cruel and depraved older man, and Sultana's discovery of the harem of sex slaves kept by a royal cousin, makes this brave royal princess more determined than ever to fight the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia.
Princess Sultana's cause is given an extra sense of urgency against the background of increased dissent against the Al Sa'uds, and the looming specter of Islamic fundamentalism. But an extended family "camping trip" in the desert brings the luxury-loving Sultana and relatives closer to their nomadic roots, and gives her the strength to carry on the fight for women's rights in all Muslim countries.
This book paints a horrifying reality for women of the desert kingdom. It is a haunting look at the danger of Saudi male dominance and the desperate lives of the women they rule.

A fascinating listen.
I’ve read all Jean Sasson’s books and loved them all. It was equally nice to listen to this one too. Anyone who is interested in the private lives of the Saudi Royals, this is a must listen. A life of extreme privilege and social system that allows the “ownership” of women and young girls, inevitably leads to depraved behaviour by some. It’s difficult to comprehend when you are part of a loving family, what some women around the world are made to endure. Well read and performed by Catherine Byers.

I dont believe it.
I cant get my head round the fact that this princess's family knew about her writing. there was a flimsy explanation in book 1 and I got the following books expecting to hear how her family reacted to her writing. I think these books are partly from.various sources and partly fiction. They didnt even go to the trouble of finding someone from that part of the world to narrate. I dont think the American voice over added any authenticity to the books. Not to criticise her, I blame the casting for that. The whole thing is more like historical fiction and just does not ring true. I'm returning these books, disappointed but the writer had a clever idea and capitalised on it.
