excellent

One of Karin Slaughter's best to date. Gripping and full of great plot lines. Highly recommended

Nasty story about nasty people

Very nasty story but I knew that before I started. Unpleasant subject matter but quite well told. The book took a long while to get into, especially the relationships and back history of the 2 sisters. I can't say i enjoyed it but it wasn't a total waste of a summer day either.

The best yet....

There are so many conflicting emotions I have and things that I now can not un see from this book. But it’s Karin at her absolute best. It was brutal, yet full of love. How can you love a monster. Not know him as who he really is with everyone else but you. And the unspeakable acts committed. But I’d listen to it again and narrators are excellent.

Absolutely love this book!

I haven't read anything from this author before but I absolutely love this book. It has me gripped! I really feel like I know the characters. I father's voice is great you can feel his pain.

I'd probably read it again and I never read a book twice.

Disturbing, harrowing but so well written.

What did you like most about Pretty Girls?

It has been years since I read a Karin Slaughter book and I'd forgotten how she can throw one disturbing scene at you after another but still keep you reading (or listening).

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I gasped out loud numerous times. I uttered "WTactualF out loud numerous times. I despised one of the characters more intensely than I have a fictional character for a long, long time. There were no redeeming features about him at all. The last chapter with Sam thinking about a wedding day made me well up.

Any additional comments?

As I've said before, this is a harrowing book. Some parts are graphic but they're not thrown in for the sake of it and Karin Slaughter doesn't spend a long time languishing in them. I feel this is probably a marmite book. You will either love it or loathe it. You will either be turned off by a few scenes that you can't make it through the book or read them, be horrified and then marvel at the strength of some of the characters. It is a challenging book in many ways, but I'm glad I read it.

Good but gory

I enjoyed the story and had to get to the end but found it a little gruesome for my tastes. Normally I would have sent it back but curiosity got the better of me and I had to finish it!!

Read this with care! Brilliant

Any additional comments?

It would be difficult to say that I "liked" this book as the subject matter was so devastating. I almost felt guilty reading it but the story was so compelling I had to get to the end. The narrators were perfect. At first I thought that the voice used by the female narrator would be irritating but she was very good and the accent changed with each character. The story content was gruesome and sometimes beyond imagination. The clever part was the construction of the storyline that kept pushing the reader forward. I have read many books by Karin Slaughter; this beats them all.

Brilliant! Karin Slaughter Delivers again...

If you could sum up Pretty Girls in three words, what would they be?

Shocking, Gripping, Impactful

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I couldn't stop listening, always wondering what was going to happen next. Some really good twists, brilliant characters. The story is a bit hard to stomach at points and is very graphic so not for the sensitive but I love Karin Slaughter as an author her books are amazing and this is no exception at all

Chilling

Totally chilling and unnerving novel. Karen always delivers, but this went beyond the usual. Well narrated and most disturbing because you know that such evil is out there.
