About this listen
She thought she was prepared for the end of the world...until it actually came.
Alex Duncan is a mother, a sister - and the daughter of a doomsday prepper. She always thought her father was insane, raving about an apocalypse she never believed in, but when a plague hits the United States and the dead no longer stay dead, Alex discovers heeding her deceased father’s advice is what will keep her family alive. Before he died, Alex’s father created a compound in Montana just in case situations like this arose.
Hell has arrived on Earth.
The dead walk, hungry for human flesh. Living in a highly populated city like Las Vegas makes the reality of the plague imminent to Alex. With little time to spare, Alex must make split-second decisions to prevent her family from being devoured. Facing the end, Alex has three goals: Escape Las Vegas. Get to the compound. Survive.
As the outside world crumbles and grows darker, Alex faces adversity from not just the infected, but the uninfected as well. Government assistance is nowhere in sight, and rumors fly that the nation’s only solution to the growing plague is execution.
Not everyone will outlast the plague. Doomsday is here. Will Alex be up to the challenge, or fall, and rise again as one of the undead?
Bonus! Includes Alone, a Sundown series novella.

Not bad but not outstanding
This is a good solid zombie apocalypse tale with a strong female lead. I had an issue with the way the narrator pronounces some words (surely plague rhymes with vague not flag) but overall it was good.
I think though I may be a little over the zombie thing. Post apocalyptic stuff with a greater grip on reality may be my route.

A solid zombie frolic
An interesting take on the zombie apocalypse. Very different having a mum as the main protagonist. All likeable main characters and great plot. There was a bit of schmaltzy stuff, not my kind of thing, but it was light and didn’t affect my enjoyment. Will get the next one.

I like how original the story was, it was fun and bit over the top but a fun journey.
Now this is were i need to say some stuff. So i believe who ever proof read these books were not paying attention. Im not a hater iv listened to all 6 and did enjoy them. The ending is brutal.
So my issues. There are inconsistances in the characters namely Max and Jack witch rubbed me the wroung way. Claiming an absalute for a character when its shown earlier on that there not like that was frustrating.
The events that happened sometimes the key parts I know needed to happen how ever Alex said at one point we need to be in teams of 3 and never alone.
Also some of things with them thinking ahead and always being prepared then seeing how terrible some things were handled was just laughable.
The Military base thats mentioned is actually an AFB death from above bye bye end of story.
Also later on they had x2 seasoned millitary personel in toe. If those guys had just mentioned a couple of key items to have in place namly a QRF and also they had radios and communications in places then when they needed them they disapear then reapear again. Why are they not using walkies or why are the walkies subjective. Either they have them or they dont.
I am going to look for more of this authors books. I sure hope this author reads this and maybe gets some help from real millitary personel and does another book in the same universe.
With all that being said there is alot in this book with some great writting in it and some of the things that happen with certain people is something iv never even thought of before until this series.
The author is good but she needs some one brutal to proof read her work properly. Who is not afraid of ripping it apart if need be.

prepper's paradise
really enjoyed this book. strong female lead. more than capable, and ready to deal with the damned "end of the world".
some lovely family moments,a mum who knows what it is and what it means to be a parent. Don't want to give anything away, but we'll worth a listen. I've just bought the next installment and am looking forward to find out what happens next

This writer needs to hire an editor. and proofread. about 10 times
What I like some way through chapter 5: I like the female protagonist. So often it's a guy in the lead so this is refreshing.
What I don't like: The past tense verb "drag" is not "drug", no matter what anyone thinks. Hearing two occurrences of "so and so drug "blah blah blah" in what feels like about 10 minutes is quite enough for me thank you. This kind of bad writing seems to be a thing with authors who self-publish. I'm not knocking people who choose to go the self-publishing route, I think it's great that more people can get there work to an appreciative audience they couldn't have dreamt of 20 or so years ago. I just wish they would proofread / beta read better before they upload it. Tess Irondale's performance so far is great. She really captures the children's voices well.
