Summary
Emerson Carter
Guys claim three minutes is a long time, so imagine what it means to be seven minutes older than your identical twin. We may look exactly the same—even down to our cupid’s bow lips—but our personalities couldn’t be more different. She’s foot loose and fancy free while I’m the responsible one. I’ve always been okay with that, too, but recently I’m feeling stifled by the constant pressure to be perfect. Date the perfect guy. Have the perfect job. Live in the perfect apartment. Perfection has a heavy cost. Am I willing to keep paying it?
Darren “D-Man” James
I met my soulmate when I was six years old and she was four. Emerson Carter had the cutest red hair in those Pippi Longstocking braids and always wore matching outfits with her twin sister, Evelyn. We grew up together, the three amigos. I sat in the friendzone and watched and waited. I sidelined myself as she dated my billet-brother Nick Atterton. I even lived with the couple for a few years until Nick was traded to Miami.
Witnessing the unimaginable strike our close friend brings us closer together. But will we be able to overcome that little bit of history… the one that had everyone thinking Emerson is simply biding her time, waiting for Nick to settle in down south? Will I have to watch her walk away again?
Will I be able to let her?
Dropped Puck Series is a 6 book hockey romance series following the Chicago Sharks as they fight through a season of ups and downs. A collection of interconnected stand-alones, each book can be listened to on their own, but I do recommend following the order in which the books are published as the characters do make follow up appearances in the subsequent stories.

Loved the narration of Alex Raby, who brings out the characters, humour, angst and steam.
Emerson, her twin sister Evie and Darren, have known each since the girls where four and he was six. Living next door to each other. Becoming best friends into the teens. When Emerson and Evie are sixteen a eighteen year old Nick, moves into Darren’s house. Nick and Emerson become start an relationship, which last seven years. With Emerson moving to Chicago to be with Nick after he is draft into a hockey team. Emerson knows even though Nick is a wonderful man, something is missing and the two neutrally agree to go their separate ways. Nick is transferred to Miami, where Evie is studying. Darren and Emerson now takes the chance to try a relationship but now they need to work past all the obstacles.
Perfect amount of angst, chemistry, steam and great characters.

Hot hockey players+
I loved this best friends to lovers story. Oh yes, there was a lot of hockey too. ;) And some family drama. This is book two in a series and while I didn't feel like I missed valuable info from book 1, I really want to read book 3 to see where the overarching storyline goes.
I thought the narrator did a great job with the various voices.
Both the author and narrator are new to me but I'll definitely be looking for more of their work.

Great listen!
Alex Raby narrates this story so well! I really found myself engrossed and her male voice is definitely not too shabby! The plot flows well, is heartwarming and full of family, friends and chances that need to be taken. Em really grows over the course of the story, finding her feet, her place and her heart. And Darren! Loved him so much. A great guy! I would have liked to know the fate of the bad guy that part of the story seemed to go over too quickly imo. Oh, and by the way..this story is 🔥🔥😊💖💖💖💖💖

5 Stars!
Power Play is the second book within the Dropped Puck series. It follows Emerson and Darren who are childhood best friends. Emerson and her twin sister, Evie, originally met Darren when they were 4 and he was 6 whilst living next door to each other. They kept their friendship throughout their teens at school. Secretly, they both harboured romantic feelings for each other and were planning to tell each other about these feelings. However, one summer when the girls are 16, Nick comes to stay with Darren, and he and Emerson feel a connection and immediately start dating. This relationship ends up lasting 7 years. Emerson even moved to Chicago to be with Nick after he was drafted to a hockey team. In the present, it’s been 7 years, and Emerson feels that the relationship has come to a standstill. Although Nick is a great guy, she feels like something is missing, and has been missing for a long time. Nick feels the same, so the two mutually decide to end things. After ending things with Nick, as she is still roommates with Darren, the romantic tension between them begin to rise. However, they have so many obstacles, and so much to overcome as Darren is obviously best friends with Nick, and Emerson and Nick are exes.
I really loved this book just like the 1st book. I enjoyed the characters and how the relationship progressed. It was nice seeing Emerson and Darren’s friendship (mostly in the present, but also the little flashbacks we saw of them when they were kids and teens) and how this progressed into romance. I cannot believe Darren waited 7 years for Emerson (he’s definitely a more patient person than I am 😜). Overall, this book had great chemistry between the characters, excellent banter and humour, the steaminess was also there and was top notch👌. Finally, it had the perfect amount of angst. It was also lovely seeing Bitsy and Hank from the 1st book (this book takes place at the same time as the 1st book).
Narrated by Alex Raby, she was wonderful with the narration. I very much enjoyed her performance and portrayal of all the characters. She was able to bring out the personalities of all the characters well and bring their story to life. This audio was truly magnificent and such a joy to listen to!

Emerson and Darren!
Emerson has been best friends with Darren since she was a child and at one time, she hoped for more but it didn’t turn out that way. Instead, when his family was billeting Nick, a fellow hockey player, they started dating and that has continued for the last seven years until they both agree they make better friends than lovers. She now finds herself roommates with Darren and it is only a matter of time before the sparks fly.
Darren has loved Emerson for years but believed he had lost his chance when she began dating his friend Nick. Years later Nick has been traded to another team and now he and Emerson are sharing the apartment they had all shared together. When he realizes that Emerson is attracted to him as well, they push the boundaries of their relationship, but it wasn’t without its complications.
The chemistry between them radiates off the pages but they both have their insecurities to overcome which causes some turmoil until they realize that despite the past, they were always meant to be together. The narrator did a wonderful job, and it was easy to differentiate between the characters.
