About this listen
Ex fashion model and successful business woman Laura Ayars' perfect world is shattered at a time that should have been the happiest of her life. On her honeymoon, her sports superstar husband goes for a swim - and never returns. But what has happened to David - can he really be dead? Whilst struggling to cope with her almost overwhelming grief, Laura is plagued by questions and doubts. Was it an accident? Or suicide? Or is it some terrible, ill-judged hoax?
As events begin to unfold, Laura starts to question David's mysterious disappearance. She begins to uncover a conspiracy that reaches deep into the past and is now slowly beginning to destroy everyone involved. Someone will do anything to keep Laura away from the awful truth - and she has no idea who she can trust.

Whaaat I really liked it!
So I met Harlan in March of this year (2023) in Dublin. And he told the room ‘if you think you’re a good writer then you probably aren’t!’ His self-depreciating introduction was just that! Humbleness - it was a great read/listen I loved the storyline and his delivery - I can only hope my first book is as cleverly thought and twisty as this. So goodbye to all the haters - if you like honest, fun entertainment then it’s a great book - don’t hold the fact he got better and better and even BETTER against him. It takes bravery to put your thoughts and feelings out there, I could only dream of thinking up such a creative first plot line. Keep on trucking Harlan!

Good book, easy listen, predictable plot
Good to listen to whilst walking. Enjoyable but very predictable. Would recommend for commuting to and from work or dog walks

A very early example of Harlan's work
Suffice to say, Harlan's talent has developed extremely well. But we all start somewhere. Adore the more recent stories.

A Good Listen but....
Narrator nearly spoiled it. Far too melodramatic. I know this is an old book o e of the first. Possibly, narrators have learned a thing or two since this.
However good plot which is fairly pacey. Slight complicated unravelling but worth a listen

Twenty years ago…
I read this book 20years ago but when it’s being read to you it takes on a whole new book feel! I’ve always loved Harlan Coben but when it’s narrated by the wonderful Scott Brick it takes it to another level! Brilliant book brilliant narration!

easy story to get into
considering its Harlans 1st book, it was quite an easy story to get into, but lacks the intensity of his later stories, that doesn't mean it's not a good one, but as an author Harlan Coben is now the best there is, and he has certainly mastered his craft
A fan of his books, the first one I read was " Tell no One " 20 year ago, and I've been hooked ever since, so I've decided to read/ re-read / listen to, all of his books in chronological order....and they're also great stories transformed into movies.......
