Summary

An outbreak of deadly disease. No cure. Everyone who leaves the plague-zone must be shot....

At first the rules were simple: quarantine the city and let the plague die. So men and women closed their doors and lived in lockdown, fighting for survival against a disease as contagious and destructive as the Black Death. A disease for which there was no known cure.

But the plague did not die. And so, at lunchtime on a Friday afternoon, the president announces the new rules. Every American should take up arms to protect the disease-free zones. Anyone attempting to leave the plague-zone must be shot....

A gripping suspense thriller about an outbreak of plague in the USA, this is perfect for fans of Dean Koontz or Stephen King.

Loved it

I thought it was a great storyline, there are a lot of these type stories, I thought this was a great one, well written with good characters and a good narrator.

Good story, shame about the narration

This is a gripping story, easy to follow, with (mainly) believable characters. However, it’s badly let down by the narration, which in its worst moments sounds like it’s voiced by AI and in its best moments, by someone not far off from falling asleep. I listened to the whole book because the story is so good, but I couldn’t get past the grating flat monotone.

Government always screws us over.

What a near perfect take on a modern day plague. Really enjoyed it. I believe other comments regarding narrator are very immature, being in my mid 30s I didn't find the narrator brilliant nor terrible. A very easy listen actually.

The quality of the recording is just sad.

The story is interesting, in a way. If you like Masterton you'll enjoy that one. The quality is terrible, it's like it has been recorded two different times on completely different equipment.

Dated, misogynistic, unrealistic and poor quality recording

The recording quality is terrible - huge variations in sound between sections. The actual narrator is ok.

The story is shockingly dated, misogynistic, with racist language.
