Summary
My past taught me to play it safe. To stay far away from handsome men who promised it all. My life was good without them. Stable, secure, predictable.
But one kiss showed me that I’d been playing it safe for far too long. One night, and all I wanted was more of his wildfire. One challenge and my carefully constructed walls tumbled down.
Amid the rubble, I realized there was more to this man than I ever dreamed. When everything fell apart, he showed me what it meant to stay. How to truly live.
But some demons don’t stay buried. The past can come knocking when you least expect. And the life he’s showing me might be shorter than either of us expected....

Fantastic
Another great book from Catherine that tells the story of Kenna and Crosby. Book 1 in this series gave us an insight to Kenna and Crosby’s relationship and this book lets us know the history of why they were both so guarded. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I highly recommend you read this. There are a lot of tears and laughter.
The narrator’s were fantastic yet again.

Angsty, humor, swoon and suspense
Perfect Wreckage was a perfect blend of angst, humor, swoon and suspense.
Kenna has lots to overcome. She is a strong heroine who always finds a way to rise above the obstacles that life has put in her way.
Crosby is super protective but fights his feelings and is one of those guys who tried to avoid commitment.
“...all it was were walls to keep people out. Barriers so I wouldn’t get hurt again. But it doesn’t matter because you snuck behind them anyway.”
I loved Kenna and Crosby’s journey. Their growth throughout the story made me fall in love with them. I listened to most of this on audiobook and really enjoyed the narration.

Loved it.
Loved reading this book, Maxine and Joe have done a fantastic job bringing it to life in audio.
So following on from Reckless Memories, I was looking forward to what Prefect Wreckage would bring. We already had the dynamics of Kenna and Crosby’s relationship, which seemed to be hostile at best.
Catherine’s yet again taken us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with this one, from the POV of both Kenna and Crosby. Both have built giant walls around their hearts, neither wanting to let any of those bricks fall. Yet one by one, wether they want to or not, they start tumbling.
Seeing each other for who they really are could be the making of them.
However the past has decided to rear its ugly head for not one, but both of them, with terrifying consequences.
In amongst all the heartache and angst, there are some laugh out loud moment, including, for me, one spectacular wahooooo, Hi-five/fist bump moment, had someone been sitting next to me who understood to reciprocate would have been great 🤣🤣🤣
Throughly enjoyed this book, couldn’t but it down.
I can’t wait for Caelyn and Griffin, this is going to interesting.

Amazing book
Wow what a fantastic book! It was simply un put downable. No other way to describe what an emotionally charged book this was. The feelings and emotions it evokes are intense and beautiful. I was choked up lots of times whilst listening to this book. I wanted to get to the end but at the same time I didn’t want it to end. Wonderful narrators. I’ll definitely relisten many times. Highly recommend this book and series

Amazing story!
There is one thing I know for sure when I listen to Catherine Cowles. The story is going to be amazing. It will tear my heart apart, but she will put it back together. Kenna has had her share of hurt and grief over the years, and her heart is guarded. Living with Harriet has been her safeguard and the one place she feels loved. Crosby is Harriet's lawyer, and nothing excites him more then riling Kenna up. Friends to lovers, these to find their relationship changing when circumstances change. Nothing prepares them for the storm that is coming, and the feelings that result. Cowles writes this story with so much feeling, it was like experiencing it all with these characters. Their romance is passion filled, and full of bumps and I love that in a story. Then we have the story outside of the couple, and it's intriguing. I love the power play, the desperation and suspense it brings to the story. It creates a full story, letting us get to know the town, the community and just what it takes to be happy. With a strong woman like Kenna and a romantic like Crosby, it's impossible not to love this story. I can't wait to see with Cowles brings us next!
Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are cast for this story, and a better fit could not have been found. Not only does their chemistry spill over into the story, but they find the essence of the characters and give them life. Mitchell is one of my favorites, bringing so richness to the story. She has a way of using her voice to make me see what is happening. Arden adds his special touch to Crosby, making the man irresistible. I love this team and loved their story telling!

This is such a heartbreakingly emotional rollercoaster of a read. My first read by this author and the second in a standalone small town series. The suspense, the small town vibes the opposite attract, small town kinda frienimies to lovers situation. It deals with grief and loss and finding hope again after being broken by the past. I'll definitely be picking up other reads by this author and I LOVED Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell in the duel narrators
