About this listen

Premier League footballer Gabe Savage is on the way to one of the most important matches of his life when he gets a phone call from his wife. She has been kidnapped along with their young son. And the message from her captors is brutal: 'If your team wins, your family dies.'

With the kickoff only hours away, there is only one person Gabe can turn to - his brother, Ray, a vicious London gangster. But a dark family secret means that he hasn't spoken to Ray for years. Can Ray help? And will he?

I liked this book. I'm a football fan and I might wonder if something is going on if my team are ever rubbish in the future. This is the book for the time beyond the end of the season, whilst waiting for the next season. Pure Leather, great entertainment!!

A book about Football

The story was just too unbelievable.
The main characters abilities bordered on the 'Super Hero'
There are a few bright spots, the meeting with the yardies being particularly hilarious but unfortunately went downhill from there.
Question - where were the police?

Far fetched!

Straightforward and predictable but that aside an enjoyable story from SL - this is the first time I have listened to Simon Mattacks and his performance was 100% on the mark.

Nice easy listen

Paul Thornley ….. brilliant narration , perfect London accents , actually makes a mediocre story enjoyable, tend to look for him above an author now.
