About this listen
Parno McLeod has managed to stave off disaster for now, but his kingdom is still besieged by the Imperial forces of the Norland Empire.
Assuming command of the entire Soulan military in place of his deposed brother, Therron, Parno must turn Soulan's fortunes around before his home is completely overrun and his people destroyed or enslaved. His ailing father has placed a great burden on his youngest son, because he simply doesn't have anyone else that can do the things that Parno can get done.
But Parno has enemies at home as well as abroad, and some of them are much closer than anyone realizes.

Its not 5* blow your mind but awesome escapism
Its the weirdest series .... could really do with some editing before publishing, the narrative is so predictable and fawning to the hero .... and yet ..and yet .... its a wonderful easy listen, it washes over you in lovely predictable twists which you expect but then enjoy. Its really not a 5* listen and yet I have actually bought more credits to get the next in the series. Its a wonderful comfort blanket with (a lot) of hours to enjoy - there is absolutely a place in audiobook land for gentle warm simple and rewarding series and this fills that wonderfully well
