Summary

What happens when temporary becomes forever?

Oz Gallagher does not do relationships well. Bored and jobless after another disastrous hook up, he decides to leave London for a temporary job in the wilds of Cornwall. Surely managing a stately home on a country estate will be easier than navigating the detritus of his relationships at home. Six months there will alleviate a bit of his wanderlust and then he can come back to London as footloose and fancy free as the day he left it.

However, when he gets there, he finds a house in danger of crumbling to the ground and a man who is completely unlike anyone he’s ever met. An earl belonging to a family whose roots go back hundreds of years, Silas is the living embodiment of duty and sacrifice. Two things that Oz has never wanted. He's also warm and funny and he draws Oz to him like a magnet.

Oz banks on the fact that they're from two very different worlds to stop himself falling for Silas. But what will he do when he realizes that these differences are actually part of the pull to one another? Will falling in love be enough to make him stop moving at last and realize that he's finally home?

From best-selling author Lily Morton comes a romantic comedy about two very different men and one very dilapidated house.

This is the first book in the Finding Home series but it can be listened to as a standalone.

The very best performance on audio

It is the performance of Joel Leslie that lifts this book into the realms of stunning. You fully believe you are listening to a full cast of actors through his vocal abilities.
The story is truly “feel good” if predictable but well written. I was however not prepared for the graphic details of the sex scenes. This is not a book for the prudish.

Perfectly lovely

Absolutely brilliant, Oz is one of my favorite characters.
Silas is a wonderful grouch.
I loved the comedic wit and banter between them.
Plenty of heat and a great secondary cast of characters.
Joel Leslie has, per usual done a bang up job on narration, bringing these characters to life so vividly and the accents are spot on.

I'm so pleased I found this series..

I'm always dubious of spending my credits on a new author and narrator but with all the positive reviews I'm so pleased I did, I often find narrators give us English too much of a snobby accent and ruin it, so it took a couple of chapter to relax in to it but it was soooo funny from the start I hardly acknowledged it, this author has the perfect combo of humour and spicy down to a tea.. at 2am I had to force myself to stop listening and pick it back up in the morning. Happy to use my credits on the rest of the series..

"I'd never have guessed that my knight in armor

would come to me later in life when I'd almost forgotten that I needed one. He would be small and fierce and his weapon was the sharpest tongue this side of Ireland. But he was all mine and I, in turn, belonged to him". ~ Silas

I love the way this books begins! It really set the tone and I just knew I would be laughing hysterically throughout the whole thing. It starts with Oz leaving his cheating ex and getting the best revenge. This is the moment I knew that I'd fallen in love with Oz. Then he embarks on an adventure with everything from an absolutely awesome job interview, to getting the building crew back on schedule, and visits from my favorite ghost with the smells of tobacco coming in at the best time. There was never a dull moment and I truly adored that. I was worried that the banter, snark or cute moments would fall flat at some point and they never did. This book was amazing all the way to the end! If you haven't yet had a chance to listen or read this series then you are missing out. Joel Leslie is a brilliant narrator and paired with an incredibly talented author, well, it's like Christmas everytime I listen to this book! *Heart eyes* so darn good!!

Brilliant read or listen

Wow wow wow Lily Morton's new book and new series is brilliant, we met Silas briefly in Risk taker (mixed messages) as the older brother to Henry and this is his book, Henry and Ivo do make an appearance in this book after their HEA. You don't need to have read Mixed Messages to enjoy this book.

This could have been such a cliched book, Posh boss hires council estate lad with good grades to save his house where they fall into bed and then in love, BUT This book is pure gold and not like that at all. The main characters are perfectly opposite and so right for each other.
Oz the title holder is the owner of funniest, sharpest, quickest tongue I have had the pleasure of reading in quite sometime and he starts in the very first page and doesn't stop all the way through. He is the utmost cheeky, smartarsed, brilliantly sarcastic Brit around and a lot of thought went into his wit.
Then we have Silas who is his almost complete opposite in station and class quintessentially British gentry think Hugh Grant/ Colin Firth but he is sweet, kind, and funny with a crumbling house and staff that need saving, in other words they need Oz.
The dialogue between the two men is laugh out loud funny to the point of tears in my eyes.

There is a lot of British humour within this book, so be careful if listening in a car! When these two finally have in to the chemistry between them it was sweet and sexy one minute and downright raunchy the next.

This book is most definitely a collector's edition and now in audible a laugh out loud listen.

Just Brilliant!

This might be my favorite out of all Lily Morton’s books. I truly adore Oz and Silas. They’re both very likeable characters. They balance each other and simply belonged together. Their wit and banter plus Oz’s brand snark is priceless.

I laughed so hard multiple times with this book, I had to keep my inhaler close. I also had my heartstrings tugged on some parts.

And the epilogue, it was the greatest epilogue to ever epilogue. 😉💜

Joel Leslie’s performance, the various accents, they’re so on point. 💯

Always brilliant

I absolutely love Lily Morton's books. There is wit and banter, which makes them laugh-out-loud funny - especially with Joel Leslie's delivery - but also angst and real emotion. Beautifully written, and, as always, narrated with great skill.

4.5 stars - enjoyable listen

I enjoyed listening to this. I’ve enjoyed some of Lily Morton’s other books even more than this one which is why it has a slightly lower rating, but it’s still good. It’s just a sign that she’s written some even more amazing books!
