About this listen
Our skies are filled with Trojan horses....
“The real UFO story must encompass all of the many manifestations being observed. It is a story of ghosts and phantoms and strange mental aberrations; of an invisible world that surrounds us and occasionally engulfs us; of prophets and prophecies, and gods and demons. It is a world of illusion and hallucination where the unreal seems very real, and where reality itself is distorted by strange forces which can seemingly manipulate space, time, and physical matter - forces that are almost entirely beyond our powers of comprehension.”
When this work was first published in 1970, it shredded the then-trendy nuts-and-bolts extraterrestrial hypothesis for UFOs in favor of one that linked UFOs to a variety of paranormal and supernatural phenomena that have taken place throughout history. Keel was one of the first to note that the UFO phenomenon appears in different disguises - and that one could not begin to decipher this great mystery without first taking into account its many and varied deliberate deceptions. Other than a few corrections, this Anomalist Books edition essentially follows the original 1970 edition of UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse.
About the author: John A. Keel (March 25, 1930-July 3, 2009) was an American journalist and influential ufologist best known as the author of The Mothman Prophecies. In the 1950s, he spent time in Egypt, India, and the Himalayas investigating snake-charming cults, the Indian rope trick, and the legendary yeti, an adventure that culminated in the publication of his first book, Jadoo. In the mid-1960s, he took up investigating UFOs and assorted forteana and published his first knockout UFO book, UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse.

Classic and still relevant
Keel was a pioneer in the field looking at things objectively and with a holistic approach, along with Jacques Vallee. I agree mostly with his view that the phenomenon has changed shape through the ages and the the different forms and manifestations are connected. The secrecy and hiding of the agenda is primarily the work of the ”visitors” themselves.

Great book, ponderous voicing.
the book should need no introduction. it's fascinating and well written.
The narrator though... generally good but occasionally with ridiculous voices that made me cringe.

Brilliant book and narration
This excellent book on the ufo phenomenon seems not to have been read or comprehended by many contemporary ufologists, who have failed to build on Keel’s findings. An excellent follow up to the Mothman Prophecies. Well narrated (although a bit ponderous - I had to speed it up to x1.1) - the best bits are the narrator’s impressions of ET voices which sound like The Simpsons’ glowing Mr Burns after undergoing irradiation longevity treatment. Recommended…

An excellent alternative theory to Aliens
It's the first time I have heard the ultra terrestrial theory and through this book found it to be a more believable theory then the little green alien men the cultists would have you believe. Enjoyed the narrator although some of the voices he put on were very irritating.

The Best UFO Book Ever!
I first read this book in the late 1970s when I was a UFO obsessed kid and barely into my secondary school, and it completely transformed the way I thought of the whole UFO phenomena.
Now it may be easy to say "well you were just a kid" and that's fair enough -- but I am above average intelligence and was very well read on the subject at a very young age -- the learning I gained from this book remained with me and has influenced my perspective ever since.
As as disclaimer I need to add that I have only been listening to this for a few chapters but I am convinced this will be an excellent reminder of how my opinions were shaped and changed and my viewpoint was expanded.
It will be interesting to find out how much this book has aged with all the new sightings and knowledge we have today.
I'm not completely convinced by the narrator, and maybe his voice will grow on me - if so I will change the review to say so.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough, and the same would apply for many other books by the late John A. Keel.

Good book . Narration not so good
Recommended for the extraterrestrial hypothesis. One has to keep in mind it is an old book so new data has come out in recent years. Very interesting point of view of author on what this phenomenon is about.
Narrator not so good: He sounds sarcastic were he shouldn't and vice versa missing the marks. Also overdoes voices too much for my taste.

Dynamite
A must for any Ufologist. Drawing all the parts together and needed to consider what is happening.

Not the book I expected
I bought this to research into unidentified aerial phenomena yet felt disappointed. What this is is a very, very long recounting of many many Stories. No real proof and nowhere to continue on to. The impressions of “spirits” is a bit embarrassing. Not for me.
