Summary
'Whatever ideas, plans and dreams you have, you've got to go for them! Be your biggest supporter, learn to eradicate the doubts in your mind, embrace the rejections and start opening doors....'
Reggie Nelson had a tough childhood growing up on a council estate in east London. His father suddenly died and his mother had to work multiple jobs just to get by. But when she had to collect Reggie from a cell where he, at only 12, was being held for troublemaking, he knew he needed to change. After catching an episode of How'd You Get So Rich?, Reggie was inspired to get any advice he could to help him turn his life around. So, he got on a train to London's most affluent areas and started knocking on doors. What he found was more powerful than he thought possible—and changed the course of his life.
Inspiring, moving and empowering, Opening Doors is a story of how the power of guidance, visibility and mentoring can give anyone the platform to learn and succeed. Because when one door closes, another door will always open....

Excellent Book
Excellent book, inspiring story and many valuable instructional points.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to take their career progression more into their own hands rather than leaving things to luck or circumstance.
Whether you a student trying to figure out how to break into the City or a C-Suite executive looking for insights on the lived experience of juniors, this is not a book to miss.
Don't just read it, study it.

MUST Read! Success Blueprint
Reggie shared much of himself in such an authentic way that every chapter is relatable. I thought this was key to making it a truly inspiring book because we could literally implement the advice and examples shared. My biggest takeaway was Reggie’s point on metaphorical ‘back doors’ my perspective has completely changed from one where I saw non conventional ways to success as wrong or less of a success because it wasn’t the traditional route. That’s false, and now I welcome the challenge to get creative and find other ways to succeed when one door is closed. Every building has multiple doors to enter and exit it would be silly to believe I can only ever enter through one door. The interview at the end was an amazing bonus reminding us on the power of mentorship, leadership, celebrating your peers, and paying it forward.
