Summary

Two young families meet by accident on a residential street corner in Los Angeles soon after WWII when social, economic, and political changes are beginning to question long-held caveats about marriage and social order. After a decade of anguished indecision, the principals finally have sufficient courage to upend their lives and the lives of two other family generations wrenched out of middle class complacency into an uncertain future. While no writer guarantees happy endings in realistic fiction, I write of personal growth once the dice have been tossed. Join Miriam, Aaron, Florence, and Phillip as well as their parents, siblings and children on a journey of self-discovery, told largely through dialogue. All the names have been changed, including the author’s.
