About this listen

During his years pastoring an inner-city church, Wendell Mettey discovered that God uses even the most blemished vessels to bring beauty into the world. In On Which Side of the Road Do the Flowers Grow?, Pastor Mettey shares the humorous and touching stories of his diverse congregation - ordinary people whose lives were infused with an awareness of God's real and abundant grace.

On Which Side of the Road Do the Flowers Grow?

I have read the book & now listened on Audible. I love these little short stories & how people have overcome & understood life’s lessons on their journey. They bring me understanding & comfort of the bigger picture and to appreciate everyone struggles at some point. I read the book many years ago & since then wherever I walk I always look for the side of the road where the flowers grow and my mind wonders. It brings me understanding of the path I am walking & why the destination is important. Wendall E Mettey certainly learnt from his own failings & lesson’s and was certainly a better person for it & served his community well. The narrator Deb Thomas bought a different atmosphere to the stories, I feel she has a soft, kind instructive tone of voice which was pleasant to listen to but at times sounded rather scripted. However, I would have preferred to listen to Wendell’s voice tone or something similar. Despite the narrative’s tone it was lovely to reminisce the stories once again. Thank you.
