About this listen
Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It's while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help - no matter what the risk.

One of my favourite audio reads ever
I started listening to this while waiting in the hospital for my ophthalmology appointment, imagine how annoyed I was when my appointment interrupted this book?! The Horror! Anyway, I loved this, and though for the first five minutes I had to adapt to the narrators voice (i was still adjusting off my last audio book) I soon got right into the story.
Anna Banks didn't mess around when she wrote this, and after a bit of beginning introduction and talking, the story kicks off fairly quickly. I didn't get confused with the change in POV's either, something that usually happens with audio for me.
I loved the narrators ability to switch characters so easily and I will definitely be listening to more books read by the same narrator. Brilliantly read. I was sad when it ended. I hope the sequel comes up on here when it's released in May.

Unnecessarily patriarchal
For a teen audience but could have been much better without the subjugation of women in the story. It’s as if the fact that the women are feisty makes up for this; it doesn’t.
